Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular epidemiology of hepatitis B virus in the United Republic of Tanzania.
Izumi Hasegawa,Yasuhito Tanaka,Fuat Kurbanov,Namiko Yoshihara,Ahmed El-Gohary,Eligius Lyamuya,Mecky Matee,Pius Magessa,Kei Fujiwara,Atsushi Ozasa,Fuminaka Sugauchi,Etsuro Orito,Ryuzo Ueda,Masashi Mizokami +13 more
TL;DR: HBV seroprevalence is high among general population in Tanzania, and the HBV/Aa‐infection is predominant, with the indicated tendency to early HBeAg seroconversion and declining of the viral load.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human leukocyte antigen variants and risk of hepatocellular carcinoma modified by hepatitis C virus genotypes: A genome-wide association study
Mei Hsuan Lee,Yu Han Huang,Hsuan-Yu Chen,Seik-Soon Khor,Ya Hsuan Chang,Yu Ju Lin,Chin Lan Jen,Sheng Nan Lu,Hwai I. Yang,Hwai I. Yang,Nao Nishida,Masaya Sugiyama,Masashi Mizokami,Yong Yuan,Gibert L'Italien,Katsushi Tokunaga,Chien-Jen Chen +16 more
TL;DR: HLA‐DQB1 was independently associated with HCC; HCV genotypes modified the effects of HLA‐dQB1 on the risk of HCC, andHaplotype analysis supported that DQB1*03:01 and DQB 1*06:02 are primarily protective and susceptible variants, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of hepatitis B: Consensus of the Japan Society of Hepatology 2009
Osamu Yokosuka,Masayuki Kurosaki,Fumio Imazeki,Yasuji Arase,Yasuhito Tanaka,Kazuaki Chayama,Eiji Tanaka,Hiromitsu Kumada,Namiki Izumi,Masashi Mizokami,Masatoshi Kudo +10 more
TL;DR: To make the consensus for the diagnosis, management and treatment of hepatitis B, a meeting was held during Japan Society of Hepatology in June 2009 and the 12 consensus statements and nine recommendations on chronic hepatitis B were described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum Levels of M2BPGi as Short-Term Predictors of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Untreated Chronic Hepatitis B Patients.
Jessica Liu,Hui Han Hu,Mei Hsuan Lee,Masaaki Korenaga,Chin Lan Jen,Richard Batrla-Utermann,Sheng Nan Lu,Li Yu Wang,Masashi Mizokami,Chien-Jen Chen,Chien-Jen Chen,Hwai I. Yang,Hwai I. Yang +12 more
TL;DR: M2BPGi is a strong and independent short-term predictor of HCC in CHB patients, and α-fetoprotein (AFP), and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels were significant independentShort-term predictors of H CC, while M2B PGi was insignificant in long-term analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI
High stability of enzyme immunoassay for hepatitis C virus core antigen-evaluation before and after incubation at room temperature
Yasuhito Tanaka,Kazumi Takagi,Toshiya Fujihara,Katsuhiko Kitsugi,Kei Fujiwara,Kumiko Hiramatsu,Yoshinori Ito,Yoshimitsu Takasaka,Masaji Sakai,Masashi Mizokami +9 more
TL;DR: The measurement of the HCV-Ag level was found to be suitable for HCV quantification with serum samples stored either at 4 degrees C or under unknown conditions and successfully eliminated inhibitors such as heparin from plasma and could be applied to a variety of clinical specimens.
