Journal ArticleDOI
GCN2 regulates pancreatic β cell mass by sensing intracellular amino acid levels
Ayumi Kanno,Shun-ichiro Asahara,Ayuko Furubayashi,Katsuhisa Masuda,Risa Yoshitomi,Emi Suzuki,Tomoko Takai,Maki Kimura-Koyanagi,Tomokazu Matsuda,Alberto Bartolomé,Yushi Hirota,Norihide Yokoi,Yuka Inaba,Hiroshi Inoue,Michihiro Matsumoto,Inoue Kenichi,Takaya Abe,Fan Yan Wei,Kazuhito Tomizawa,Wataru Ogawa,Susumu Seino,Masato Kasuga,Yoshiaki Kido +22 more
TL;DR: It is shown that insulin secretion is reduced in individuals harboring the risk allele of EIF2AK4 and that maintenance of GCN2-deficient mice on a high-fat diet results in a loss of pancreatic β cell mass.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential expression of SHP2, a protein-tyrosine phosphatase with SRC homology-2 domains, in various types of renal tumour.
Naoto Kuroda,Yoshitake Hayashi,Takashi Matozaki,Keisuke Hanioka,Akinobu Gotoh,Weiping Wang,Hiroya Uchida,Kimio Hashimoto,Yasuhiro Iwai,Kentaro Kawasaki,Yukihiro Imai,Masato Kasuga,Hiroshi Itoh +12 more
TL;DR: Clear and granular-type RCCs showed a very low but positive expression of SHP2, and Chromophobe RCC and oncocytoma showed the highest rates and strongest intensities ofSHP2 protein on immunostaining.
Journal Article
Insulin-induced GLUT4 movements in C2C12 myoblasts: evidence against a role of conventional kinesin motor proteins.
Kazuo Takazawa,Tetsuya Noguchi,Tetsuya Hosooka,Toyo Yoshioka,Kazutoshi Tobimatsu,Masato Kasuga +5 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that conventional kinesin is dispensable for insulin-induced GLUT4 translocation in cultured myoblasts and may reveal a cell-type specific role of the microtubules-based cytoskeleton in glucose transport in response to insulin.
Journal ArticleDOI
A case of hypothalamic panhypopituitarism with empty sella syndrome: case report and review of the literature.
Hisako Komada,Masaaki Yamamoto,Saki Okubo,Kanto Nagai,Keiji Iida,Takehiro Nakamura,Yushi Hirota,Kazuhiko Sakaguchi,Masato Kasuga,Yutaka Takahashi +9 more
TL;DR: The presence of autoantibodies to pituitary and cerebrum in the patient's serum implies an autoimmune mechanism as a pathogenesis and strongly suggest that the panhypopituitarism with empty sella is caused by hypothalamic dysfunction.
Journal Article
EGF stimulates both cyclooxygenase activity and cell proliferation of cultured guinea pig gastric mucous cells.
Choitsu Sakamoto,Kohei Matsuda,Osamu Nakano,Yoshitaka Konda,Takashi Matozaki,Hogara Nishisaki,Masato Kasuga +6 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that increases in DNA synthesis and PGE2 release may be involved, at least in part, in the mechanism of EGF-induced local regulation of gastric mucosal integrity.
