Resistance to antimicrobials and biofilm formation in Staphylococcus spp. isolated from bovine mastitis in the Northeast of Brazil
Carina da Costa Krewer,Evandro Santos Amanso,Gisele Veneroni Gouveia,Renata de Lima Souza,Mateus Matiuzzi da Costa,Rinaldo Aparecido Mota +5 more
TL;DR: The high frequency of blaZ gene observed in this study was associated with the resistance of most Staphylococcus spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of quercetin in functional and morphological alterations in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats
Roberto Marinho Maciel,Mateus Matiuzzi da Costa,Danieli Brolo Martins,Raqueli T. França,Roberta Schmatz,Dominguita Lühers Graça,Marta M.M.F. Duarte,Cristiane Cademartori Danesi,C. M. Mazzanti,Maria Rosa Chitolina Schetinger,Francine C. Paim,Heloisa Einloft Palma,F.H. Abdala,Naiara Stefanello,C.K. Zimpel,Diandra Visentini Felin,Sonia Terezinha dos Anjos Lopes +16 more
TL;DR: Hyperglycemia is directly involved in oxidative stress production, as well as in functional and morphological alterations caused by the excess of free radicals, and QUE, specially at the dosage of 50mg/kg, can act as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, becoming a promising adjuvant in the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Caracterização molecular de fatores de virulência em Aeromonas hydrophila obtidas de peixes
TL;DR: The objective of the present paper was to verify the presence of aerolysin, hidrolipase, elastase and lipase virulence genes through the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in A. hydrophila isolates obtained from fish of the Sao Francisco River Valley, and to evaluate virulence according to the presence in Nile tilapia fingerlings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phenotypic and molecular characterization of bovine Campylobacter fetus strains isolated in Brazil.
Agueda Castagna de Vargas,Mateus Matiuzzi da Costa,Marilene Henning Vainstein,Luiz Carlos Kreutz,Jairo Pereira Neves +4 more
TL;DR: It was concluded that phenotypic characterization of C. fetus subspecies might lead to erroneous classification of field isolates, and PCR, besides providing rapid results, was found to be reliable and convenient for the characterization of field isolate ofC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Ziziphus joazeiro leaf extract for production of antibacterial agents
Milena Lima Guimarães,Fernando A. G. da Silva,Mateus Matiuzzi da Costa,Helinando P. de Oliveira +3 more
TL;DR: The green synthesis of silver nanoparticles represents an important strategy for production of alternative antibacterial agents and the reduction is provided by the action of leaf extract of Ziziphus joazeiro, which presented pH-dependent behavior that affects the kinetics of nanoparticles nucleation and the following aggregation.
