Magnetic resonance imaging-defined areas of microvascular obstruction after acute myocardial infarction represent microvascular destruction and haemorrhage
Lourens Robbers,Elise S. Eerenberg,Paul F. Teunissen,Paul F. Teunissen,Paul F. Teunissen,Matthijs F. Jansen,Matthijs F. Jansen,Matthijs F. Jansen,Maurits R. Hollander,Maurits R. Hollander,Maurits R. Beek,Aernout M. Beek,Aernout M. Beek,Niels van Royen,Niels van Royen,Niels van Royen +38 more
TL;DR: The contrast-devoid core of revascularized STEMI contains extensive erythrocyte extravasation with microvascular damage andAttenuating the reperfusion-induced haemorrhage may be a novel target in future adjunctive STEMI treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in Coronary Blood Flow After Acute Myocardial Infarction: Insights From a Patient Study and an Experimental Porcine Model.
Guus A. de Waard,Maurits R. Hollander,Paul F. Teunissen,Matthijs F. Jansen,Elise S. Eerenberg,Aernout M. Beek,Koen M. Marques,Peter M. van de Ven,Ingrid M. Garrelds,A.H. Jan Danser,Dirk J. Duncker,Niels van Royen +11 more
TL;DR: CFR in both culprit and nonculprit coronary arteries decreases after AMI with contributions from both an increased baseline flow and a decreased hyperemic flow, which represents a combination of post-occlusive hyperemia, myocardial necrosis, hemorrhagic microvascular injury, compensatory hyperkinesis, and neurohumoral vasoconstriction.
Journal ArticleDOI
CD40 in coronary artery disease: a matter of macrophages?
TL;DR: The function of CD40 on the macrophage and its (proposed) role in the reduction of atherosclerosis, the Reduction of neointima formation, and the stimulation of arteriogenesis are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
The emerging role of galectins in cardiovascular disease.
Nina W. van der Hoeven,Maurits R. Hollander,Cansu Yıldırım,Matthijs F. Jansen,Paul F. Teunissen,Anton J.G. Horrevoets,Tineke C. T. M. van der Pouw Kraan,Niels van Royen +7 more
TL;DR: This review summarizes the association between galectin and the development of multiple cardiovascular diseases such as myocarditis, ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure and atrial fibrillation and focuses on the linkages between angiogenesis, arteriogenesis and atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of ADAMTS13 in acute myocardial infarction: cause or consequence?
Elise S. Eerenberg,Paul F. Teunissen,Paul F. Teunissen,Bert-Jan H. van den Born,Joost C. M. Meijers,Maurits R. Hollander,Maurits R. Hollander,Matthijs F. Jansen,Matthijs F. Kamphuisen,Marcel Levi,Niels van Royen,Niels van Royen +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of recombinant ADAMTS13 in myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients was investigated in a porcine model, and no correlation was found between van Willebrand factor (VWF) and infarct size in patients.
