X-ray analysis of hæmoglobin
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that very detailed X-ray diffraction photographs can be obtained from crystals of horse methaemoglobin suspended in concentrated solutions of ammonium sulphate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure of human fluoromethaemoglobin with inositol hexaphosphate.
G. Fermi,Max F. Perutz +1 more
TL;DR: The main spectral changes associated with the reaction of fluoromethaemoglobin with IHP take place in less than 3 ms at room temperature.
Book
I wish I'd made you angry earlier : essays on science, scientists, and humanity
TL;DR: Perutz's collection of essays as discussed by the authors explores a wide range of scientific and personal topics with great insight and lucidity, and is intended for general readers with an interest in science and scientific personalities of the twentieth century.
Journal ArticleDOI
Noncooperativity of the αβ Dimer in the Reaction of Hemoglobin with Oxygen
TL;DR: X-ray analysis of crystals of oxy- and deoxy-des-Arg hemoglobins showed that the removal of Arg 141alpha would leave the structure of alphabeta dimers unchanged, and nonreactivity of the sulfhydryl groups at 112beta proved that the subunits in deoxy dimers form the same contact as in oxy dimers.
