Shalansky,Heinz Völler,Otto Wagner,Armin Zittermann +44 more
TL;DR: The analysis showed that self-monitoring and self-management of oral coagulation is a safe option for suitable patients of all ages and patients should also be offered the option to self-manage their disease with suitable health-care support as back-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Orientation of tilting disc and bileaflet aortic valve substitutes for optimal hemodynamics
TL;DR: Hemodynamic performance of this valve type, regarding turbulence and pressure gradients, is close to normal physiology and superior to the bileaflet valve design.
Journal ArticleDOI
Three-dimensional visualization of velocity profiles in the porcine abdominal aortic trifurcation.
Erik Morre Pedersen,Jesper Hjortdal,Vibeke E. Hjortdal,Hans Nygaard,Michael Hasenkam,Peter K. Paulsen +5 more
TL;DR: To study the local distribution of blood velocities in the abdominal aorta and trifurcation in pigs weighing 90 kg, hot-film anemometry was used for point blood velocity measurements in the entire cross-sectional area.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low blood volume in the giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis)
Mads Damkjær,Mads F. Bertelsen,Carsten Grøndahl,Michael Hasenkam,Tobias Wang,E Brøndum,Geoffrey P. Candy,Peter Bie +7 more
TL;DR: The giraffe exhibits extraordinary hemodynamics including a high blood pressure at heart level, and it is hypothesized that its blood volume is 75–80 ml/kg body weight (b.wt.) a...
Patent
Strip for monitoring analyte concentrations
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a device for measuring the concentration of analytes in liquid samples such as bodily samples, which comprises an application zone, to which a sample can be applied, and which contains a specific molecule capable of specifically binding the analyte of interest, said specific molecule being conjugated to a reporter which can give rise to variations in impedance.
