Assessment of CPR interruptions from transthoracic impedance during use of the LUCAS™ mechanical chest compression system
Dana Yost,Reid H. Phillips,Louis Gonzales,Charles Lick,Paul A. Satterlee,Michael Levy,Joseph Barger,Pamela P. Dodson,Stephen Poggi,Karen Wojcik,Robert A. Niskanen,Fred W. Chapman +11 more
TL;DR: Interruptions in chest compressions to apply LUCAS can be <20s but are often much longer, and users do not perceive pause time accurately, therefore, better training on application technique, and implementation of systems using impedance data to give users objective feedback on their mechanical chest compression device use are recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI
A quality improvement initiative to optimize use of a mechanical chest compression device within a high-performance CPR approach to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest resuscitation.
Michael Levy,Michael Levy,Dana Yost,Robert G. Walker,Erich Scheunemann,Erich Scheunemann,Steve R. Mendive,Steve R. Mendive +7 more
TL;DR: The authors' QI initiative substantially reduced the duration of the pause prior to first mechanical compression, which strongly suggests a large improvement in mechanical CPR device application efficiency within an overall high-performance CPR process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increase in Adverse Reactions Associated with Use of Synthetic Cannabinoids - Anchorage, Alaska, 2015-2016.
Yuri P. Springer,Roy Gerona,Erich Scheunemann,Sarah L. Shafer,Thomas Lin,Samuel D. Banister,Michael P. Cooper,Louisa Castrodale,Michael Levy,Jay C. Butler,Joe McLaughlin +10 more
TL;DR: A public health investigation was initiated to describe clinical outcomes, characterize the outbreak, and identify SC chemicals circulating in Anchorage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Guidance Document for the Prehospital Use of Tranexamic Acid in Injured Patients
Peter E. Fischer,Eileen M. Bulger,Debra G. Perina,Theodore R. Delbridge,Mark L. Gestring,Mary E. Fallat,David V. Shatz,Jay Doucet,Michael Levy,Lance E. Stuke,Scott P. Zietlow,Jeffrey M. Goodloe,Wayne E. Vanderkolk,Adam D. Fox,Nels D. Sanddal +14 more
TL;DR: Insufficient evidence exists to support or refute the prehospital administration of TXA, and results are pending from several prehospital studies currently in progress.
Journal ArticleDOI
National Assessment of Quality Programs in Emergency Medical Services.
Michael Redlener,Patrick Olivieri,George T. Loo,Kevin Munjal,Michael T. Hilton,Katya Trudeau Potkin,Michael Levy,Jeffrey Rabrich,Michael R. Gunderson,Sabina A. Braithwaite +9 more
TL;DR: EMS agencies in the United States have significant practice variability with regard to quality improvement resources, medical direction and specific clinical quality measures.
