Journal ArticleDOI
Histone deimination antagonizes arginine methylation
Graeme L. Cuthbert,Sylvain Daujat,Andrew W. Snowden,Hediye Erdjument-Bromage,Teruki Hagiwara,Michiyuki Yamada,Robert Schneider,Philip D. Gregory,Paul Tempst,Andrew J. Bannister,Tony Kouzarides +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PADI4) specifically deiminates, in the H3 N-terminal tail, arginines R2, R8, R17, and R26.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural basis for Ca(2+)-induced activation of human PAD4
Kyouhei Arita,Hiroshi Hashimoto,Toshiyuki Shimizu,Katsuhiko Nakashima,Michiyuki Yamada,Mamoru Sato +5 more
TL;DR: The crystal structure of Ca2+-free wild-type PAD4 shows that the polypeptide chain adopts an elongated fold in which the N-terminal domain forms two immunoglobulin-like subdomains, and the C-terminals forms an α/β propeller structure, which indicates that Ca2-binding induces conformational changes that generate the active site cleft.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nuclear Localization of Peptidylarginine Deiminase V and Histone Deimination in Granulocytes
TL;DR: The results suggested that the NLS is a classical monopartite NLS, which is not found in the three other PADs and may have implications in histone modifications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Peptidyl arginine deiminase type 2 (PAD‐2) and PAD‐4 but not PAD‐1, PAD‐3, and PAD‐6 are expressed in rheumatoid arthritis synovium in close association with tissue inflammation
Céline Foulquier,Mireille Sebbag,Cyril Clavel,Sabine Chapuy-Regaud,Roula Al Badine,Marie-Claire Méchin,Christian Vincent,Rachida Nachat,Michiyuki Yamada,Hidenari Takahara,Michel Simon,Marina Guerrin,Guy Serre +12 more
TL;DR: PAD-2 and PAD-4 are the only PAD isotypes expressed in the synovial tissue of patients with RA and those with other arthritides, and both enzymes were demonstrable within or in the vicinity of citrullinated fibrin deposits.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selective Deimination of Vimentin in Calcium Ionophore-Induced Apoptosis of Mouse Peritoneal Macrophages
TL;DR: Western blotting analyses of the extract from macrophages incubated with 1 microM ionomycin showed selective deimination of vimentin without detectable degradation, suggesting localization of deiminated vimentsin around the periphery of round-shaped nucleus, which was thought to be an early morphological sign of apoptosis.
