Multisampling approach applied to contactless hand biometrics

TL;DR: A novel contactless biometrie system for multisampling hand recognition and how a multi-sample approach outperforms the traditional single sample approach is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Causal and functional correlates of brood amalgamation in the chinstrap penguin Pygoscelis antarctica : parental decision and adult aggressiveness

TL;DR: The results show that chick desertion was not related to chick growth rate and was driven primarily by a parental decision, determined by adult physical constraints imposed by moulting needs and the short breeding season in Antarctica.
Journal ArticleDOI

Better nutritional condition changes the distribution of juvenile dispersal distances: an experiment with Spanish imperial eagles

TL;DR: Results support the ‘wandering’ hypothesis as the main driver of the distribution of dispersal distances of the Spanish imperial eagle Aquila adalberti.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human disturbance and the conservation of the Spanish imperial eagle: a response to Gonzalez et al. (2006)

TL;DR: This critical result points out that eagles are indeed able to habituate to human presence, as other raptors do where they are not persecuted, and suggests a change in selective pressure, coupled with the fact that the Spanish imperial eagle is a raptor possessing a long reproductive life, would facilitate a decrease in approaching distance to the intruders.
Journal ArticleDOI

Are Western European ospreys (Pandion haliaetus) shortening their migration distances? Evidence from trends of the wintering population in the Iberian Peninsula

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provided evidence that the number of Western European ospreys wintering in the Iberian Peninsula has been increasing over nearly two decades due to a reduction of the migration distances.
