Floater survival affects population persistence. The role of prey availability and environmental stochasticity

TL;DR: Two individual-based models are developed using a large and detailed data set on a population of a longlived and territorial predator, the Spanish imperial eagle, to demonstrate the link between the dynamics in settlement and breeding areas and insights into the relationship between environmental stochasticity and population dynamics.
Journal ArticleDOI

A process of pair formation leading to assortative mating: passive age-assortative mating by habitat heterogeneity

TL;DR: Model simulations showed that the mating pattern of a population is not necessarily a direct consequence of the mating preferences of individuals; positive age-assortative mating, by which individuals of similar age are more likely to become paired, does not necessarily indicate homotypic mating preferences.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trace elements in blood collected from birds feeding in the area around Doñana National Park affected by the toxic spill from the Aznalcóllar mine

TL;DR: The present data, together with the lack of data on blood metal concentration prior to the spill, do not offer any conclusive evidence of the influence of the spill on avian blood metal concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Spanish imperial eagle Aquila adalberti C. L. Brehm 1861 in Doñana National Park (South West Spain): A study of population dynamics

TL;DR: An estimation of the population dynamics of the Spanish imperial eagle Aquila adalberti C. L. Brehm 1861 in the Donana National Park (SW Spain) is made in this paper.
