Inflammatory markers in post-traumatic stress disorder: a systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-regression
Ives Cavalcante Passos,Ives Cavalcante Passos,Mirela Paiva Vasconcelos-Moreno,Leonardo Gazzi Costa,Maurício Kunz,Elisa Brietzke,João Quevedo,Giovanni Abrahão Salum,Pedro Vieira da Silva Magalhães,Flávio Kapczinski,Flávio Kapczinski,Márcia Kauer-Sant'Anna +11 more
TL;DR: A meta-analysis and meta-regression of studies comparing inflammatory markers between patients with PTSD and healthy controls found that use of psychotropic medication and presence of comorbid major depressive disorder were important moderators that might explain the inconsistency between results of previous studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis dysfunction and illness progression in bipolar disorder.
Gabriel Rodrigo Fries,Mirela Paiva Vasconcelos-Moreno,Carolina Gubert,Bárbara Tietbohl Martins Quadros dos Santos,Juliana Sartori,Barbara Eisele,Pamela Ferrari,Adam Fijtman,Joëlle Rüegg,Nils C. Gassen,Flávio Kapczinski,Theo Rein,Márcia Kauer-Sant'Anna +12 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that the epigenetic modulation of the FK BP5 gene, along with increased FKBP51 levels, is associated with the GR hyporesponsiveness seen in BD patients, consistent with the notion that unaffected first-degree relatives of BD patients share biological factors that influence the disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exercise and severe major depression: Effect on symptom severity and quality of life at discharge in an inpatient cohort
Felipe Barreto Schuch,Mirela Paiva Vasconcelos-Moreno,C. Borowsky,A.B. Zimmermann,Neusa Sica da Rocha,Marcelo Pio de Almeida Fleck +5 more
TL;DR: Add-on exercise is an efficacious treatment for severely depressed inpatients, improving their depressive symptoms and QoL, and initial acceptance of exercise remains a challenge.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exercise and severe depression: Preliminary results of an add-on study
Felipe Barreto Schuch,Mirela Paiva Vasconcelos-Moreno,C. Borowsky,Marcelo Pio de Almeida Fleck +3 more
TL;DR: The preliminary results suggest that physical exercise could be a feasible and effective add-on strategy for treatment of severe depressed inpatients, improving their depressive symptoms and QoL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Telomere Length, Oxidative Stress, Inflammation and BDNF Levels in Siblings of Patients with Bipolar Disorder: Implications for Accelerated Cellular Aging.
Mirela Paiva Vasconcelos-Moreno,Gabriel Rodrigo Fries,Carolina Gubert,Bárbara Tietbohl Martins Quadros dos Santos,Adam Fijtman,Juliana Sartori,Pamela Ferrari,Lucas Kich Grun,Mariana Migliorini Parisi,Fátima Theresinha Costa Rodrigues Guma,Florencia María Barbé-Tuana,Flávio Kapczinski,Adriane R. Rosa,Lakshmi N. Yatham,Márcia Kauer-Sant'Anna +14 more
TL;DR: The present results suggest that unaffected siblings may present accelerated aging features and neurobiological findings may be considered as endophenotypic traits.
