Journal ArticleDOI
Novel hexagonal structure and ultrahigh strength of magnesium solid solution in the Mg–Zn–Y system
TL;DR: In this article, a magnesium (Mg) solid solution with a long periodic hexagonal structure was found in a Mg97Zn1Y2 (at.%) alloy in a bulk form prepared by warm extrusion of atomized powders at 573 K.
Journal ArticleDOI
Formation of icosahedral quasicrystalline phase in Zr-Al-Ni-Cu-M (M=Ag, Pd, Au or Pt) systems
TL;DR: In this article, Icosahedral (I) particles with spherical morphology were found as a primary precipitation phase in amorphous Zr 65 Al 7.5 M 5 (M=Ag, Pd, Au or Pt) alloys with two-stage crystallization process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct observation of icosahedral cluster in Zr70Pd30 binary glassy alloy
TL;DR: In this article, the medium-range order in the Zr70Pd30 binary glassy alloy, where the nanoicosahedral phase precipitates as a primary phase, was examined using the high-resolution electron microscopic technique.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Strength and Good Ductility of Bulk Quasicrystalline Base Alloys in Zr 65 Al 7.5 Ni 10 Cu 17.5− x Pd x System
TL;DR: An icosahedral quasicrystalline phase was found to precipitate as a primary phase from the supercooled liquid in the Zr 65 Al 7.5 Ni 10 Cu 17.5 alloy as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Precipitation of icosahedral phase from a supercooled liquid region in Zr65Cu7.5Al7.5Ni10Ag10 metallic glass
TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of icosahedral phase from the rapidly quenched Zr65Cu7.5Al7.10 metallic glass was confirmed and the kinetics of the precipitation upon isothermal annealing in the supercooled liquid region were examined by differential scanning calorimetry.
