Journal ArticleDOI

Autophagy and apoptosis dysfunction in neurodegenerative disorders.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a brief introduction to autophagy and apoptosis pathways focusing on the role of mitochondria and lysosomes, and discuss different ways that autophag and apoptotic modulation may be employed for therapeutic intervention during the maintenance of neurodegenerative disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI

Apoptosis and cancer: mutations within caspase genes

TL;DR: This review gives an overview of the role of caspases, their natural modulators like IAPs, FLIPs, and Smac/Diablo in apoptosis and upon inactivation, and also in cancer development and some of the direct activators of procaspase-3.
Journal ArticleDOI

S100A8/A9 at low concentration promotes tumor cell growth via RAGE ligation and MAP kinase-dependent pathway

TL;DR: The data indicate that S100A8/A9‐promoted cell growth occurs through RAGE signaling and activation of NF‐κB, which is mediated via RAGE ligation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Whey protein isolate/cellulose nanofibre/TiO 2 nanoparticle/rosemary essential oil nanocomposite film: Its effect on microbial and sensory quality of lamb meat and growth of common foodborne pathogenic bacteria during refrigeration

TL;DR: Based on the results of this study, the edible nanocomposite films were effective in preserving the microbial and sensory qualities of lamb meat; therefore, this application is recommended in meat especially red meat.
