The case for electron re-acceleration at galaxy cluster shocks
Reinout J. van Weeren,Felipe Andrade-Santos,William A. Dawson,Nathan Golovich,Dharam V. Lal,Hyesung Kang,Dongsu Ryu,Dongsu Ryu,Marcus Brüggen,Georgiana A. Ogrean,William R. Forman,Christine Jones,Vinicius M. Placco,Rafael M. Santucci,David Wittman,David Wittman,M. James Jee,Ralph P. Kraft,David Sobral,David Sobral,Andra Stroe,Kevin Fogarty +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a direct connection between a radio relic and a radio galaxy in the merging galaxy cluster Abell 3411-3412 was made by combining radio, X-ray and optical observations.

TL;DR: In this paper, a direct connection between a radio relic and a radio galaxy in the merging galaxy cluster Abell 3411-3412 was found, indicating that radio galaxies play an important role in governing the nonthermal component of the intracluster medium in merging clusters.

TL;DR: Drlica-Wagner et al. as discussed by the authors summarized the science case for studying the fundamental physics of dark matter with LSST and discussed the ways that LSST will complement other experiments to strengthen our understanding of the fundamental characteristics of darkmatter.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Mismeasure of Mergers: Revised Limits on Self-interacting Dark Matter in Merging Galaxy Clusters
TL;DR: Wittman et al. as mentioned in this paper showed that errors inherent in using single-band imaging to identify mass and light peaks do not necessarily average out in a sample of this size, particularly when a handful of substructures constitute a majority of the weight in the ensemble.

MC2:galaxy imaging and redshift analysis of the merging cluster CIZA J2242.8+5301
William A. Dawson,M. James Jee,Andra Stroe,Y. Karen Ng,Nathan Golovich,David Wittman,David Sobral,David Sobral,Marcus Brüggen,H. J. A. Röttgering,R. J. van Weeren +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed a comprehensive galaxy/redshift analysis of the CIZA J2242.8+5301 system and found that the system is dominated by two subclusters of comparable richness with a projected separation of $6\buildrel{\,\prime}\over{} 9_{-0.5}+0.13$ and 0.21 ± 0.12 for the north and south, respectively.
