TL;DR: In this paper, a direct connection between a radio relic and a radio galaxy in the merging galaxy cluster Abell 3411-3412 was found, indicating that radio galaxies play an important role in governing the nonthermal component of the intracluster medium in merging clusters.

TL;DR: It is proposed that the interplay between radio-emitting plasma and the perturbed intracluster medium can gently reenergize relativistic particles initially injected by active galactic nuclei to maintain electrons at higher energies than radiative aging would allow.
