Virinder S. Parmar,Subhash C. Jain,Sangita Gupta,S. Talwar,Vivek K. Rajwanshi,Rajesh Kumar,Abul Azim,Sanjay Malhotra,Naresh Kumar,Rajni Jain,Nawal K. Sharma,O. D. Tyagi,Stephen J Lawrie,William Errington,Oliwer W Howarth,Carl Erik Olsen,Sanjay K.Singh¶andJesper Wengel +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, twelve Piper species were extracted from the stems and leaves of P. manii and β-sitosteryl palmitate was obtained for the first time from P. brachystachyum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-invasive activity of alkaloids and polyphenolics in vitro.
Virinder S. Parmar,Marc Bracke,Jan Philippé,Jesper Wengel,Subhash C. Jain,Carl Erik Olsen,Kirpal S. Bisht,Nawal K. Sharma,Andy Courtens,Sunil K. Sharma,K Vennekens,Veerle Van Marck,Sanjay K. Singh,Naresh Kumar,Ashok Kumar,Sanjay Malhotra,Rajesh Kumar,Vivek K. Rajwanshi,Rajni Jain,Marc Mareel +19 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that among the alkaloids and polyphenolics a number of molecules can inhibit growth and invasion of human mammary cancer cells via selective cytotoxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis, characterization and in vitro anti-invasive activity screening of polyphenolic and heterocyclic compounds
Virinder S. Parmar,Nawal K. Sharma,Mofazzal Husain,Arthur C. Watterson,Jayant Kumar,Lynne A. Samuelson,Ashok L. Cholli,Ashok K. Prasad,Ashok Kumar,Sanjay Malhotra,Naresh Kumar,Amitabh Jha,Amarjit Singh,Ishwar Singh,Himanshu,Archana Vats,Najam A. Shakil,Najam A. Shakil,Smriti Trikha,Shubasish Mukherjee,Sunil K. Sharma,Sunil K. Sharma,Sanjay Singh,Hriday N Jha,Carl Erik Olsen,Christophe P. Stove,Marc Bracke,Marc Mareel +27 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that some polyphenolic and heterocyclic compounds are anti-invasive without being cytotoxic for the cancer cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lignans and neolignans from Piper schmidtii
O. D. Tyagi,Søren Rosendal Jensen,Per M. Boll,Nawal K. Sharma,Nawal K. Sharma,Kirpal S. Bisht,Kirpal S. Bisht,Virinder S. Parmar,Virinder S. Parmar +8 more
TL;DR: The unknown enantiomeric lignan (−)-machilin G and the known lignans (+)-calopiptin, (−)-zuionin A, as well as a new neolignan kadsurin A and known neogenes futoquinol, isodihydrofutoquinoline, ishodihydroidquinol A, isodehydro-futo-quinol B, along with parsley apiole as mentioned in this paper, have been isolated from the leaves and stem of Piper schmidtii
Journal ArticleDOI
Do ion tethered functional groups affect IL solvent properties? The case of sulfoxides and sulfones
Nawal K. Sharma,Morgan D. Tickell,Jared Anderson,Joel L. Kaar,Verónica Pino,Benjamin F. Wicker,Daniel W. Armstrong,James H. Davis,Alan J. Russell +8 more
TL;DR: The covalent incorporation of functional groups-specifically sulfoxide and sulfone-into the cation of imidazolium ionic liquids leads to significant, quantifiable changes in solvent parameters which in turn have important effects on the bulk properties of the materials.
