Journal ArticleDOI
Supramolecular Polymorphism of (G4C2)n Repeats Associated with ALS and FTD.
TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of G-wires in solutions of the sequences d(G4C2)n with n = 1, 2, and 4 was studied, and it was shown that all three sequences assemble into longer structures than previously reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liquid Crystals: The Beautiful State of Matter
Nerea Sebastián,Alenka Mertelj +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that there is a hierarchy of liquid crystalline phases, the simplest of which is the so-called nematic phase, and despite being widely theoretically predicted and searched for, a "simple" polar nematic phase has not been experimentally found.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interplay between structure and relaxation in polyurea networks: the point of view from a novel method of cooperativity analysis of dielectric response
TL;DR: The influence of structural constraints on the relaxation dynamics of three polyurea networks with a varying degree of crosslinking, has been studied by means of a thorough analysis of broadband dielectric spectroscopy measurements, finding that the enhancement of configurational constraints is similar to cooling but only on qualitative grounds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optical switching of bent-core liquid crystals with azocinnamoyl units
Luka Cmok,Simon Mattiazzi,Irena Drevenšek-Olenik,Nerea Sebastián,Kristina Gak Simić,Nemanja Trišović,M. Vilfan +6 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors report on observations of optical switching in bent-core liquid crystals possessing azocinnamoyl groups in both elongated side arms, and find that the average switching time varies strongly with temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNMR measurements of an asymmetric odd liquid crystal dimer: determination of the intramolecular angle and the degree of order of the two rigid cores.
Nerea Sebastián,Blaž Zupančič,Boštjan Zalar,David López,Josep Salud,Victor Lopez de Rioja,Rafael Levit,Beatriz Robles-Hernández,M. Rosario de la Fuente,Nélida Gimeno,M. Blanca Ros,S. Diez-Berart +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a Deuteron Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (DNMR) study of the non-symmetric odd liquid crystal dimer α-(4-cyanobiphenyl)-4'-yloxy)-ω-(1-pyrenimine-benzylidene-4'-oxy) heptane (CBO7O.dPy) was presented.
