TL;DR: The topics assessed in this chapter were last assessed by the IPCC in 2007, principally in WGII AR4 Chapters 3 (Kundzewicz et al., 2007) and 4 (Fischlin et al, 2007), but also in this paper Sections 1.3.4 and 1.5 (Rosenzweig et al. 2007).

Journal ArticleDOI
Fire risk in Amazonia due to climate change in the HadCM3 climate model: Potential interactions with deforestation
Nicola Golding,Richard Betts +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the McArthur Forest Fire Danger Index and an ensemble of variants of the HadCM3 climate model to simulate potential changes to fire risk in Amazonia over the 21st century.
Journal ArticleDOI
Climate and land use change impacts on global terrestrial ecosystems and river flows in the HadGEM2-ES Earth system model using the representative concentration pathways
Richard Betts,Richard Betts,Nicola Golding,Patrick Gonzalez,Jemma Gornall,Ron Kahana,Gillian Kay,L. Mitchell,Andy Wiltshire +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of century-scale HadGEM2-ES simulations from an impacts perspective were discussed, specifically terrestrial ecosystems and water resources, for four different scenarios following the representative concentration pathways (RCPs), used in the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2013, 2014).
Journal ArticleDOI
Seasonal predictions of Fire Weather Index: Paving the way for their operational applicability in Mediterranean Europe
Joaquín Bedia,Nicola Golding,Ana Casanueva,Maialen Iturbide,Carlo Buontempo,Carlo Buontempo,José M. Gutiérrez +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider whether the skill in dynamical seasonal predictions of one of the most widely applied fire danger indices (the Canadian Fire Weather Index, FWI) is sufficient to inform management decisions and examine various methodological aspects regarding the calibration of model outputs prior to its verification and operational applicability.
