Journal ArticleDOI

Langerhans cell histiocytosis in adults. Report from the International Registry of the Histiocyte Society.

TL;DR: Langerhans cell histiocytosis in adults is most often a multisystem disease with the highest mortality seen in patients with isolated pulmonary involvement, and should be included in the differential diagnosis of disseminated or localised disease of the bone, skin and mucosa, as well as the lung and the endocrine and central nervous system, regardless of the age of the patient.
Journal ArticleDOI

A randomized trial of treatment for multisystem Langerhans' cell histiocytosis.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared two active agents, vinblastine and etoposide, in the treatment of multisystem Langerhans' cell histiocytosis (LCH) in an international randomized study.
Journal ArticleDOI

Central nervous system disease in langerhans cell histiocytosis

TL;DR: Clinical patterns are described in correlation with the morphology on MR imaging and histopathology of central nervous system disease in Langerhans cell histiocytosis, and the therapeutic strategies are reviewed critically and guidelines for the management of patients with LCH-related CNS disease are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Treatment strategy for disseminated langerhans cell histiocytosis

TL;DR: The shorter duration of active disease, low rate of recurrence and permanent consequences, and improved survival among patients with poor prognosis support the strategy of rapid initiation of a predefined prolonged treatment upon the diagnosis of disseminated LCH.
