Journal ArticleDOI
Modelling SIR-type epidemics by ODEs, PDEs, difference equations and cellular automata – A comparative study
TL;DR: It is shown that consistent qualitative and quantitative model behaviour can be obtained by means of parameter adaptions and slight technical modifications in the Kermack–McKendrick susceptible-infected-recovered model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of undetected cases during the COVID-19 epidemic in Austria.
Claire Rippinger,Martin Bicher,Christoph Urach,Dominik Brunmeir,N. Weibrecht,G. Zauner,Gabi Sroczynski,Beate Jahn,Nikolai Mühlberger,Uwe Siebert,Nikolas Popper +10 more
TL;DR: The results of prevalence studies performed to determine the detection rate of COVID-19 patients should always be interpreted with regard to the current dynamic of the epidemic wave, according to the method proposed in this analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Why should we apply ABM for decision analysis for infectious diseases?-An example for dengue interventions.
Florian Miksch,Beate Jahn,Kurt Junshean Espinosa,Jagpreet Chhatwal,Uwe Siebert,Nikolas Popper +5 more
TL;DR: The analyzed hypothetical effectiveness of dengue interventions showed that a reduced human-mosquito ratio of 1:2.5 during rainy seasons leads already to a substantial decrease of infected persons.
Journal ArticleDOI
Targeted COVID-19 Vaccination (TAV-COVID) Considering Limited Vaccination Capacities-An Agent-Based Modeling Evaluation
Beate Jahn,Gaby Sroczynski,Martin Bicher,Claire Rippinger,Nikolai Mühlberger,Júlia Santamaria,Christoph Urach,Michael Schomaker,Igor Stojkov,Daniela Schmid,Günter Weiss,Ursula Wiedermann,Monika Redlberger-Fritz,Christiane Druml,Mirjam Kretzschmar,Maria Paulke-Korinek,Herwig Ostermann,Caroline Czasch,Gottfried Endel,Wolfgang Bock,Nikolas Popper,Uwe Siebert +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a dynamic agent-based population model to compare different vaccination strategies targeted to the elderly (65 ≥ years), middle aged (45-64 years), younger (15-44 years), vulnerable (risk of severe disease due to comorbidities), and healthcare workers (HCW).
Journal ArticleDOI
Love Emotions between Laura and Petrarch – an Approach by Mathematics and System Dynamics
Felix Breitenecker,Florian Judex,Nikolas Popper,Katharina Breitenecker,Anna Mathe,Andreas Mathe +5 more
TL;DR: This contribution introduces and investigates amodelling approach for love dynamics and inspiration by means of System Dynamics, for Laura's and Petrarch’s emotions as well as for a modern couple in love.
