Journal ArticleDOI
Loophole-free Bell inequality violation using electron spins separated by 1.3 kilometres
Bas Hensen,Hannes Bernien,Hannes Bernien,A. Dréau,Andreas Reiserer,Norbert Kalb,Machiel Blok,Justus W. Ruitenberg,R. F. L. Vermeulen,Raymond N. Schouten,Carlos Abellan,Waldimar Amaya,Valerio Pruneri,Valerio Pruneri,Morgan W. Mitchell,Morgan W. Mitchell,Matthew Markham,Daniel J. Twitchen,David Elkouss,Stephanie Wehner,Tim H. Taminiau,Ronald Hanson +21 more
TL;DR: The data imply statistically significant rejection of the local-realist null hypothesis and could be used for testing less-conventional theories, and for implementing device-independent quantum-secure communication and randomness certification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deterministic delivery of remote entanglement on a quantum network.
Peter C. Humphreys,Norbert Kalb,Jaco P. J. Morits,Raymond N. Schouten,R. F. L. Vermeulen,Daniel J. Twitchen,Matthew Markham,Ronald Hanson +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a single-photon entanglement protocol was proposed to achieve entangling fidelity of more than 0.5 at every clock cycle of about 100 milliseconds without any pre- or post-selection.
Journal ArticleDOI
A quantum gate between a flying optical photon and a single trapped atom
TL;DR: The development of a robust two-qubit gate that allows the linking of distant computational nodes is “a pressing challenge” and here it is demonstrated between the spin state of a single trapped atom and the polarization state of an optical photon contained in a faint laser pulse.
Journal ArticleDOI
Entanglement distillation between solid-state quantum network nodes
Norbert Kalb,Andreas Reiserer,Peter C. Humphreys,Jacob Bakermans,Sten J. Kamerling,Naomi H. Nickerson,Simon C. Benjamin,Daniel J. Twitchen,Matthew Markham,Ronald Hanson +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, entanglement distillation on a quantum network primitive of distant electron-nuclear two-qubit nodes is demonstrated through single-photon-mediated entangling of the electrons and robust storage in the nuclear spins.
Journal ArticleDOI
One-second coherence for a single electron spin coupled to a multi-qubit nuclear-spin environment.
M. H. Abobeih,J. Cramer,M.V. Bakker,Norbert Kalb,Matthew Markham,Daniel J. Twitchen,Tim H. Taminiau +6 more
TL;DR: A coherence time exceeding a second is realized for a single nitrogen-vacancy electron spin through decoupling sequences tailored to its microscopic nuclear-spin environment, providing a proof ofprinciple for quantum sensing of complex multi-spin systems and an opportunity for multi-qubit quantum registers with long coherence times.
