Journal ArticleDOI

Liver autophagy contributes to the maintenance of blood glucose and amino acid levels.

TL;DR: In mice, liver autophagy makes a significant contribution to the maintenance of blood glucose by converting amino acids to glucose via gluconeogenesis, and this results are the first to show that liver-specific autophagic proteolysis plays a role in blood glucose regulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Osteopontin Plays an Important Role in the Development of Medial Thickening and Neointimal Formation

TL;DR: The expression of OPN induces both medial thickening without injury and neointimal formation after injury, thus suggesting that OPN plays a role in the development of atherosclerosis, vascular remodeling, and restenosis after angioplasty in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-level expression of naked DNA delivered to rat liver via tail vein injection.

TL;DR: High levels of foreign gene expression in mouse hepatocytes can be achieved by rapid tail vein injection of a large volume of a naked DNA solution, the ‘hydrodynamics‐based procedure’.
Journal ArticleDOI

Membrane-Associated IL-1 Contributes to Chronic Synovitis and Cartilage Destruction in Human IL-1α Transgenic Mice

TL;DR: It is suggested that MA-IL-1 contributes to synoviocyte self-proliferation and subsequent cartilage destruction in inflammatory joint disease such as rheumatoid arthritis.
