Journal ArticleDOI
Size-fractioned particulate air pollution and cardiovascular emergency room visits in Beijing, China.
Liqun Liu,Susanne Breitner,Alexandra Schneider,Josef Cyrys,Irene Brüske,Ulrich Franck,Uwe Schlink,Arne Marian Leitte,Olf Herbarth,Alfred Wiedensohler,Birgit Wehner,Xiaochuan Pan,H-Erich Wichmann,Annette Peters +13 more
TL;DR: Elevated concentration levels of sub-micrometer particles were associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity and the lagged effect curves of number and mass concentrations of 100-300nm particles or 300-1000nm particles were quite similar, indicating that using particulate number or mass concentrations seemed not to affect the cardiovascular effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Food intake, diet quality and behavioral problems in children: results from the GINI-plus/LISA-plus studies.
Gabriele Kohlboeck,Stefanie Sausenthaler,Marie Standl,Sibylle Koletzko,Carl-Peter Bauer,Andrea von Berg,Dietrich Berdel,Ursula Krämer,Beate Schaaf,Irina Lehmann,Olf Herbarth,Joachim Heinrich +11 more
TL;DR: Increased consumption of high-sugar products and lower diet quality are associated with a higher likelihood of emotional symptoms in children.
Journal ArticleDOI
Respiratory health, effects of ambient air pollution and its modification by air humidity in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania.
Arne Marian Leitte,Cristina Petrescu,Ulrich Franck,Matthias Richter,Oana Suciu,Romanita Ionovici,Olf Herbarth,Uwe Schlink +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that in Drobeta-Turnu Severin CB is associated with TSP and mainly SO(2), and dry air aggravates the adverse effect of TSP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Children with ADHD symptoms have a higher risk for reading, spelling and math difficulties in the GINIplus and LISAplus cohort studies.
Darina Czamara,Carla M. T. Tiesler,Gabriele Kohlböck,Dietrich Berdel,Barbara Hoffmann,Carl-Peter Bauer,Sibylle Koletzko,Beate Schaaf,Irina Lehmann,Olf Herbarth,Andrea von Berg,Bertram Müller-Myhsok,Gerd Schulte-Körne,Joachim Heinrich +13 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis that ADHD and learning disorders are comorbid and share, at least partially, the same underlying process is strengthened.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between indoor renovation activities and eczema in early childhood.
TL;DR: Prevention of allergic disorders should include the avoidance of such activities around birth and in the first year of life, as exposure emissions due to redecoration activities seem to be associated with the risk of eczema and allergic symptoms.
