Listeria-Associated Lymphadenitis: A Series of 11 Consecutive Cases and Review of the Literature

TL;DR: It is shown that culture-proven Listeria-associated lymphadenitis is associated with a mortality as high as for invasive listeriosis, and it is frequently diagnosed with concomitant neoplasia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Erratum: Uncovering Listeria monocytogenes hypervirulence by harnessing its biodiversity.

TL;DR: In the version of this article initially published, the titles of the x axes in Figure 5b and 5c should have been “Brain/blood CFU ratio” instead of “Blood/brain CFU ratios,” and the title of the z axis in Figure 2c should be “% of isolates” rather than “Number of isolate.”
Journal ArticleDOI

Cell and tissue tropisms of Chikungunya virus and its dissemination to the central nervous system

TL;DR: Service de Microbiologie, Groupe Hospitalier Sud-Reunion, Saint-Pierre, La Reunion, France and service des Maladies Infectieuses et Tropicales, Hopital Necker-Enfants malades, Universite Paris Descartes, Paris, France.

Bacterial inhibition of CD8 + T-cells mediated cell death promotes neuroinvasion and within-host persistence

TL;DR: An unanticipated specific mechanism by which a bacterial pathogen confers to the cells it infects an increased lifespan by rendering them resistant to cell-mediated immunity is uncovered, which promotes Lm within-host persistence and dissemination to the central nervous system, and transmission.
