Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of Staphylococcus aureus strains associated with food poisoning outbreaks in France

TL;DR: This study characterized the staphylococcal strains related to these SFPO through phenotypic and genotypic analyses and identified 33 strains identified as S. aureus species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative studies of mutations in animal isolates and experimental in vitro- and in vivo-selected mutants of Salmonella spp. suggest a counterselection of highly fluoroquinolone-resistant strains in the field

TL;DR: A comparison of experimental mutants selected in vitro, field strains, and mutantsselected in vivo suggests that highly fluoroquinolone-resistant strains are counterselected in field conditions in the absence of selective pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diversity of Salmonella Strains Isolated from the Aquatic Environment as Determined by Serotyping and Amplification of the Ribosomal DNA Spacer Regions

TL;DR: The RS-HP method based on the PCR amplification of the intergenic spacer region between the 16S and 23S rRNA genes can produce amplicon profiles allowing the discrimination of species at both serotype and intraserotype levels, and represents a powerful tool that could be used for rapid typing of Salmonella isolates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Virulotyping and Antimicrobial Resistance Typing of Salmonella enterica Serovars Relevant to Human Health in Europe

TL;DR: The combination of virulence gene and antimicrobial resistance gene typing using DNA arrays is a recently developed genomics-based approach to bacterial molecular epidemiology that seems likely to enable Salmonella to adapt to different environmental conditions, which might be reflected in serovar-specific ecology.
