TL;DR: In this article, a review of current functioning and responses of Mediterranean marine biogeochemical cycles and ecosystems with respect to key natural and anthropogenic drivers and to consider the ecosystems' responses to likely changes in physical, chemical and socio-economical forcings induced by global change and by growing anthropogenic pressure at the regional scale.
Journal ArticleDOI
Origin of groundwater salinity and hydrogeochemical processes in a confined coastal aquifer: Case of the Rhône delta (Southern France)
Veronique de Montety,Olivier Radakovitch,Christine Vallet-Coulomb,Bernard Blavoux,Daniel Hermitte,Vincent Valles +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors identify the origin of groundwater salinity and the geochemical processes occurring in this coastal confined aquifer according to the degree of salinity using a natural tracing approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Particulate matter and organic carbon budgets for the Gulf of Lions (NW Mediterranean)
Xavier Durrieu de Madron,A. Abassi,Serge Heussner,André Monaco,Jean Claude Aloisi,Olivier Radakovitch,Pierre Giresse,Roselyne Buscail,Philippe Kerhervé +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of sedimentological, sediment trap and hydrological data was performed to investigate the transport and fate of particulate matter in the Gulf of Lions, showing the influence of the general cyclonic circulation on the dispersion of land-derived particulates.
Journal ArticleDOI
210Pb and Caesium Accumulation in the Rhône Delta Sediments
TL;DR: In this article, Pb-210, Cs-137 and Cs134 profiles were determined on 13 box-cores from the Rhone submarine delta (northwestern Mediterranean Sea). Maximum accumulation rates were estimated using the Pb210 dating method or the evolution of the Cs137/Cs-134 activity ratio with depth in the sediment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Major and trace element partition and fluxes in the Rhone River
TL;DR: In this article, the authors determined dissolved and particulate major and trace element concentrations and suspended particulate contents of the lower Rhone River (France) from subsurface water samples collected about twice a month and more regularly during flood events.
