The type IIB supernova 2011DH from a supergiant progenitor
Melina C. Bersten,Omar Gustavo Benvenuto,Ken'ichi Nomoto,Mattias Ergon,Gastón Folatelli,Jesper Sollerman,Stefano Benetti,Maria Teresa Botticella,Morgan Fraser,Rubina Kotak,Keiichi Maeda,P. Ochner,L. Tomasella +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, a set of hydrodynamical models based on stellar evolutionary progenitors is used to study the nature of SN 2011dh, and it is shown that a large progenitor star with R {approx} 200 R{sub Sun }-is needed to reproduce the early light curve (LC) of SN2011dh.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrodynamical models of type II plateau supernovae
Melina C. Bersten,Melina C. Bersten,Omar Gustavo Benvenuto,Omar Gustavo Benvenuto,Mario Hamuy +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the bolometric light curves of Type II plateau supernovae were obtained using a newly developed, one-dimensional Lagrangian hydrodynamic code with flux-limited radiation diffusion.
Journal ArticleDOI
iPTF13bvn: the first evidence of a binary progenitor for a type Ib supernova
Melina C. Bersten,Omar Gustavo Benvenuto,Omar Gustavo Benvenuto,Gastón Folatelli,Ken'ichi Nomoto,Hanindyo Kuncarayakti,Hanindyo Kuncarayakti,Shubham Srivastav,G. C. Anupama,Robert M. Quimby,D. K. Sahu +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an interacting binary system was proposed as the supernova progenitor and the remaining companion was a luminous O-type star of significantly lower flux in the optical than the pre-SN object.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diffusion and the occurrence of hydrogen‐shell flashes in helium white dwarf stars
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of element diffusion on the structure and evolution of low-mass helium white dwarfs were investigated, focusing mainly on the occurrence of hydrogenshell flashes induced by diffusion processes during cooling phases.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Binary Progenitor for the Type IIb Supernova 2011dh in M51
TL;DR: In this article, a close binary system (CBS) was proposed to study the potential progenitor system for Type IIb supernova 2011dh, which is compatible with pre-explosion photometry and light-curve modeling.
