Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison between Interaction Forces at Air/Liquid and Solid/Liquid Interfaces in the Presence of Non-Ionic Surfactants
TL;DR: In this article, the results of the MASIF measurements are compared with the ones of the thin film pressure balance measurements and the influence of the surfactant concentration on the interactions is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microporous Membranes for Ultrafast and Energy-Efficient Removal of Antibiotics Through Polyphenol-Mediated Nanointerfaces
Yu Wang,Yunxiang He,Qin Wang,Xiaoling Wang,Blaise L. Tardy,Joseph J. Richardson,Orlando J. Rojas,Junling Guo +7 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Competing Effects of Hydration and Cation Complexation in Single-Chain Alginate.
TL;DR: In this paper , all-atom molecular dynamics simulations were used to systematically analyze the interactions between alginic acid chains and Na+ and Ca2+ counterions, showing that calcium cations strongly bind to alginate by disrupting hydrogen bonds within (1 → 4)-linked β-d-mannuronate (M) residues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Superstable Wet Foams and Lightweight Solid Composites from Nanocellulose and Hydrophobic Particles
Roozbeh Abidnejad,Marco Beaumont,Marco Beaumont,Blaise L. Tardy,Bruno D. Mattos,Orlando J. Rojas,Orlando J. Rojas +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a synergetic combination of colloids for the interfacial stabilization of complex fluids that can be converted into lightweight materials is introduced, which can be used as a processing route to synthesize strong composites and lightweight structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
High frequency pulsed electrodialysis of acidic filtrate in kraft pulping
Alvaro Gonzalez-Vogel,Juan J. Moltedo,Rafael Quezada Reyes,Alex Schwarz,Orlando J. Rojas,Orlando J. Rojas +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, high frequency pulsed electrodialysis (hf-pED) is used to process the acidic filtrate of a Kraft pulp bleaching stage, tested in a pilot trial.
