Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidoreductases on their way to industrial biotransformations
Ángel T. Martínez,Francisco J. Ruiz-Dueñas,Susana Camarero,Ana Serrano,Dolores Linde,Henrik Lund,Jesper Vind,Morten Tovborg,Owik Matthias Herold-Majumdar,Martin Hofrichter,Christiane Liers,René Ullrich,Katrin Scheibner,Giovanni Sannia,Alessandra Piscitelli,Cinzia Pezzella,Mehmet E. Sener,Sibel Kilic,Willem J. H. van Berkel,Victor Guallar,María Lucas,Ralf Zuhse,Roland Ludwig,Frank Hollmann,Elena Fernández-Fueyo,Eric Record,Craig B. Faulds,Marta Tortajada,Ib Winckelmann,Jo-Anne Rasmussen,Mirjana Gelo-Pujic,Ana Gutiérrez,José C. del Río,Jorge Rencoret,Miguel Alcalde +34 more
TL;DR: The recently described lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases have attracted the highest attention among copper oxidoreductases, since they are capable of oxidatively breaking down crystalline cellulose, the disintegration of which is still a major bottleneck in lignocellulose biorefineries, along with lignin degradation.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Epoxidation Yields of Vegetable Oil Hydrolyzates and Methyl Esters by Selected Fungal Peroxygenases.
Alejandro González-Benjumea,Gisela Marques,Owik Matthias Herold-Majumdar,Jan Kiebist,Katrin Scheibner,José C. del Río,Ángel T. Martínez,Ana Gutiérrez +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used wild unspecific peroxygenases (UPOs, EC 1.11.2.1) from the ascomycete Chaetomium globosum (CglUPO) and the basidiomycete Marasmius rotula (MroUPO), as well as with recombinant UPO of the Humicola insolens (rHinUPO).
Journal ArticleDOI
Enzymatic delignification and hexenuronic acid removal in cellulosic papermaking pulp using a haloperoxidase
Valentin Waschulin,Valentin Waschulin,Pedro Emanuel Garcia Loureiro,Owik Matthias Herold-Majumdar,Owik Matthias Herold-Majumdar,Claus Felby,Henrik Lund +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a vanadium haloperoxidase (Hap) and the tertiary amine 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2]octane (DABCO) as a co-catalyst was tested on oxygen-delignified kraft pulp, and the results showed that the addition of DABCO, likely through the formation of a reactive quaternary chlorammonium cation, consistently led to an unprecedentedly high lignin removal and brightness gain in a one-stage enzymatic treatment.
Patent
Enzymatic preparation of indigo dyes and in situ dyeing process
Owik Matthias Herold-Majumdar,Morten Tovborg,Martin Hofrichter,Marzena Poraj-Kobielska,Henrick Lund +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the use of a peroxygenase for preparing indigo dyes and an in situ method for dyeing a textile with indigo dye was described. But this method was not suitable for textile weaving.
Journal ArticleDOI
The reaction of lignin model compounds during enzymatic bleaching with a Curvularia verruculosa haloperoxidase: impact on chlorination
Owik Matthias Herold-Majumdar,Owik Matthias Herold-Majumdar,Pedro Emanuel Garcia Loureiro,René Ullrich,Claus Felby +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the chlorination of monomeric and dimeric lignin model substrates was studied with Curvularia verruculosa haloperoxidase and compared to a sodium hypochlorite treatment.
