Wroblewski +78 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the L-mode to H-mode transition in the DIII-D tokamak is associated with the sudden reduction in anomalous, fluctuation-connected transport across the outer midplane of the plasma.
Stationary high-performance discharges in the dii-d tokamak
T. C. Luce,Wade,Ferron,A.W. Hyatt,A.G. Kellman,J. E. Kinsey,Rj Lahaye,C.J. Lasnier,Masakatsu Murakami,P.A. Politzer,J. T. Scoville +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the DIII-D tokamak was shown to achieve stable operation up to the estimated no-wall {beta} limit in the presence of sawteeth and fishbones.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development, physics basis and performance projections for hybrid scenario operation in ITER on DIII-D
M. R. Wade,T. C. Luce,R. J. Jayakumar,P.A. Politzer,A. W. Hyatt,J. R. Ferron,C. M. Greenfield,M. Murakami,Cc Petty,R. Prater,J.C. DeBoo,R. J. La Haye,P. Gohil,T. L. Rhodes +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a potential new standard in stationary tokamak performance is emerging from experiments on DIII-D. These experiments have demonstrated the ability to operate near the free boundary, n = 1 stability limit with good confinement quality under stationary conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Motional Stark effect polarimetry for a current profile diagnostic in DIII‐D
TL;DR: In this article, a single point, spatially scannable, high-sensitivity polarimeter installed on DIII-D is described, with good temporal and spatial resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optimization of DIII-D advanced tokamak discharges with respect to the β limita)
J.R. Ferron,T.A. Casper,E. J. Doyle,A.M. Garofalo,P. Gohil,C. M. Greenfield,A.W. Hyatt,R. J. Jayakumar,C.E. Kessel,J. Kim,T.C. Luce,M. A. Makowski,J.E. Menard,Masakatsu Murakami,C.C. Petty,P.A. Politzer,T. S. Taylor,M. R. Wade +17 more
TL;DR: Luxon et al. as discussed by the authors compared the safety factor q profile, pressure profile, and discharge shape for high β, steady-state, noninductive advanced tokamak operation in the DIII-D device.
