Transport by intermittency in the boundary of the DIII-D tokamak
Jose Boedo,Dmitry Rudakov,R.A. Moyer,G. R. McKee,R.J. Colchin,M.J. Schaffer,P. G. Stangeby,W. P. West,S.L. Allen,Todd Evans,R. J. Fonck,E. M. Hollmann,Sergei Krasheninnikov,Anthony Leonard,W. M. Nevins,M.A. Mahdavi,G.D. Porter,George Tynan,Dennis Whyte,Xueqiao Xu +19 more
TL;DR: Intermittent plasma objects (IPOs), featuring higher pressure than the surrounding plasma, are responsible for ∼50% of the E×BT radial transport in the scrape off layer (SOL) of the Doublet III D (DIII-D) tokamak as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: A271 TRANSPORT by INTERMITTENCY in the BOUNDARY of the DIII-D TOKAMAK in L- and H-mode discharges is described in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fluctuation-driven transport in the DIII-D boundary
Dmitry Rudakov,Jose Boedo,R.A. Moyer,Sergei Krasheninnikov,Anthony Leonard,M.A. Mahdavi,George McKee,G.D. Porter,P.C. Stangeby,J.G. Watkins,W.P. West,Dennis Whyte,G. Antar +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the cross-field fluctuation-driven transport in edge and scrape-off layer (SOL) plasmas in the DIII-D tokamak using a fast reciprocating Langmuir probe array allowing local measurements of the fluctuationdriven particle and heat fluxes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wroblewski +78 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the L-mode to H-mode transition in the DIII-D tokamak is associated with the sudden reduction in anomalous, fluctuation-connected transport across the outer midplane of the plasma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Far SOL Transport and Main Wall Plasma Interaction in DIII-D
Dmitry Rudakov,J.A. Boedo,R.A. Moyer,P.C. Stangeby,J.G. Watkins,D.G. Whyte,Lei Zeng,N.H. Brooks,R.P. Doerner,Todd Evans,Max E. Fenstermacher,M. Groth,E. M. TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that in H-mode between edge localized modes (ELMs) the plasma?wall contact is weaker than in L-mode. And they also showed that ELMs are responsible for 30?90% of the net ion flux to the outboard chamber wall.
