L10 FePt based exchange coupled composite bit patterned films
A. T. McCallum,P. Krone,Felix Springer,C. Brombacher,Manfred Albrecht,E. Dobisz,Michael Grobis,Dieter Weller,Olav Hellwig +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate a 2.5-fold reduction in coercivity in FePt based exchange coupled composite bit patterned media (ECC-BPM) by coupling a lower anisotropy Co/Pd-Co/Ni-multilayer system to the top of a high anisotropic FePit L10 film.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exchange coupled composite bit patterned media
TL;DR: In this paper, a micromagnetic study on the magnetization reversal in bit patterned media (BPM) with each bit consisting of an exchange coupled composite (ECC) layer stack is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetic films on nanoperforated templates: a route towards percolated perpendicular media.
C. Schulze,Marco Faustini,Jehyun Lee,H. Schletter,M U Lutz,P. Krone,Mhairi Gass,K Sader,Andrew Bleloch,Michael Hietschold,Markus Fuger,Dieter Suess,Josef Fidler,Ulrike Wolff,Volker Neu,David Grosso,Denys Makarov,Manfred Albrecht +17 more
TL;DR: Following the evolution of the magnetic domain pattern in the system, it is suggested that domain walls are pinned on structural inhomogeneities given by the underlying nanoperforated template.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of the anisotropy distribution on the coercive field and switching field distribution of bit patterned media
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a systematic study on the magnetization reversal in square arrays of magnetic nanostructures and show that the variation in magnetic anisotropy within an array of magnetic nano-structures and the influence of magnetic dipole-dipole interaction between the individual bits with separation distance is crucial for the performance of bit patterned media (BPM) concerning in particular the switching field distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetization reversal processes of single nanomagnets and their energy barrier
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the influence of bit size on the magnetization reversal mode and found that the transition from quasi-coherent to incoherent magnetization rotation process can still be described analytically if an activation volume is considered instead of the bit volume.
