Journal ArticleDOI

The triple helix: 50 years later, the outcome

TL;DR: The state of art of the triplex-based anti-gene strategy 50 years after the discovery of such a structure is reported, and the importance of the actual applications and the main challenges that the authors still have ahead of us are shown.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thirty years of Escherichia coli DNA gyrase: from in vivo function to single-molecule mechanism.

TL;DR: The biological roles of gyrase in vivo and its mechanism in vitro are reviewed and a unique ability that arises from the specialized C-terminal DNA wrapping domain of the GyrA subunit of type II topoisomerase is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interaction of human DNA topoisomerase I with G‐quartet structures

TL;DR: It is shown here that human topoisomerase I (Topo I) plays an unexpected role of 'molecular matchmaker' for G-quartet formation, and provides evidence that these complexes are parallel G- Quartet structures, mediated by tetrads of hydrogen-bonded guanine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exploring the cellular activity of camptothecin-triple-helix-forming oligonucleotide conjugates.

TL;DR: The results indicate that these conjugates may be further developed to improve chemotherapeutic cancer treatments by targeting topoisomerase I-induced DNA cleavage to appropriately chosen genes.
