Nancy M. Petry,Jessica M. Peirce,Maxine L. Stitzer,Jack Blaine,John M. Roll,Allan Cohen,Jeanne L. Obert,Therese K. Killeen,Michael E. Saladin,Mark Cowell,Kimberly C. Kirby,Robert C. Sterling,Charlotte Royer-Malvestuto,John Meacham Hamilton,Robert E. Booth,Marilyn J. Macdonald,Marc Liebert,Linda Rader,Raynetta Burns,Joan DiMaria,Marc L. Copersino,Patricia Quinn Stabile,Ken Kolodner,Rui Li +23 more
TL;DR: The abstinence-based incentive procedure, which provided a mean of 203 dollars in prizes per participant, was efficacious in improving retention and associated abstinence outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Maxine L. Stitzer,Nancy M. Petry,Jessica M. Peirce,Kimberly C. Kirby,Therese K. Killeen,John M. Roll,John P. Hamilton,Patricia Quinn Stabile,Robert C. Sterling,Chanda Brown,Ken Kolodner,Rui Li +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that stimulant abusers presenting to treatment with a stimulant-negative urine benefit from abstinence incentives, but alternative treatment approaches are needed for those who test stimulant positive at intake.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is exposure to an effective contingency management intervention associated with more positive provider beliefs
Kimberly C. Kirby,Carolyn M. Carpenedo,Maxine L. Stitzer,Karen L. Dugosh,Nancy M. Petry,John M. Roll,Michael E. Saladin,Allan Cohen,John P. Hamilton,Karen Reese,Gina R. Sillo,Patricia Quinn Stabile,Robert C. Sterling +12 more
TL;DR: Exposing community treatment providers to incentive programs may itself be an effective strategy in prompting the dissemination of CM interventions, and some differences were found in opinions regarding costs of incentives, which generally indicated that participants from CM sites were more likely to see the costs as worthwhile.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlates of Stimulant Treatment Outcome Across Treatment Modalities
Jessica M. Peirce,Nancy M. Petry,John M. Roll,Ken Kolodner,Joe Krasnansky,Patricia Quinn Stabile,Chanda Brown,Maxine L. Stitzer +7 more
TL;DR: A cocaine-positive urine sample at study intake was the most robust and consistent correlate of stimulant use outcome in all analyses, confirming that intake assessments have considerable value in identifying problems to be addressed in treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Criminal justice referral and incentives in outpatient substance abuse treatment
Anthony DeFulio,Maxine L. Stitzer,John M. Roll,Nancy M. Petry,Paul A. Nuzzo,Robert P. Schwartz,Patricia Quinn Stabile +6 more
TL;DR: The study suggests that abstinence incentives should be offered as a first priority to stimulant users entering treatment without criminal justice referral and incentives can be considered for use with CJ-referred stimulants users based on the observation that best outcomes were obtained in CJ referrals who also received the abstinence incentive program.
