Journal ArticleDOI

The effects of ultraviolet light on the biological and physical chemical properties of deoxyribonucleic acids.

TL;DR: The photoreactivating enzyme from bakers' yeast reactivates UV-treated transforming DNA in the presence of visible light; the reactivation might be due in part to the disruption of the cross-links induced by UV.
Journal ArticleDOI

Towards a total macromolecular analysis of sea urchin embryo chromatin

TL;DR: A new and relatively gentle procedure has been developed for the resolution of sea urchin embryo chromatin into its components, where several quantitative changes in individual protein species have been observed to occur with embryonic development.
Journal ArticleDOI

Self-complementary oligoribonucleotides: effects of helix defects and guanylic acid-cytidylic acid base pairs.

TL;DR: Equimolar mixtures of oligomers differing only in that one contains C between the blocks and the other G are found to form bimolecular helices of enhanced stability, and several observations suggest that, in contrast to C, the duplex rearranges to accommodate G opposite a U residue.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of the pro alpha 2 (I) collagen gene.

TL;DR: DNA sequence analysis of a select 4 kbp of the gene has precisely described 14 exons which comprise one-third of the sequences encoding the triple-helical domain of the collagen protein.
