Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of the histone core complex

TL;DR: A stable histone core complex containing equimolar ratios of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4 has been isolated from chicken erythrocyte chromatin in high salt and analysis of the apparent weight-average molecular weight indicates that this complex is in equilibrium between a tetramer (H2A)(H2B)(H3)(H4) and an octamer species.
Journal ArticleDOI

THE OPTICAL ROTATORY DISPERSION OF RIGHT-HANDED α-HELICES IN SPERM WHALE MYOGLOBIN

TL;DR: A chronology of key events leading to and including the creation of the Acta Union Internationale contre le Cancer in 1960 and its publication in 1961.
Journal ArticleDOI

Highly specific transcription of globin sequences in isolated reticulocyte nuclei

TL;DR: Chicken reticulocyte nuclei have been isolated under conditions where the endogenous RNA polymerase activity is retained and catalyzes the incorporation of ribonucleotide triphosphates into RNA linearly for at least 5 hours at 25°C after an initial burst of activity.
