A Nonzero Gap Two-Dimensional Carbon Allotrope from Porous Graphene
Gustavo Brunetto,Pedro A. S. Autreto,Leonardo D. Machado,B. I. Santos,R. P. B. dos Santos,Douglas S. Galvao +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a two-dimensional carbon allotrope, named biphenylene carbon (BPC), was obtained from selective dehydrogenation of porous graphene, which has a nonzero bandgap and well-delocalized frontier orbitals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure, Properties and Applications of Two-Dimensional Hexagonal Boron Nitride.
Soumyabrata Roy,Xiang Zhang,Anand B. Puthirath,Ashokkumar Meiyazhagan,Sohini Bhattacharyya,Muhammad M. Rahman,Ganguli Babu,Sandhya Susarla,Sreehari K. Saju,Mai Kim Tran,Lucas M. Sassi,M. A. S. R. Neupane,Tony Ivanov,Jaime Taha-Tijerina,Jaime Taha-Tijerina,Jaime Taha-Tijerina,Ram Manohar Yadav,Sivaram Arepalli,Robert Vajtai,Pulickel M. Ajayan +45 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the structural, electrical, mechanical, optical, and thermal properties of 2D hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) have been extensively studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
3D Porous Graphene by Low‐Temperature Plasma Welding for Bone Implants
Dibyendu Chakravarty,Chandra Sekhar Tiwary,Cristano F. Woellner,Sruthi Radhakrishnan,Sruthi Radhakrishnan,Soumya Vinod,Sehmus Ozden,Pedro A. S. Autreto,Pedro A. S. Autreto,Sanjit Bhowmick,S. A. Syed Asif,Sendurai A. Mani,Douglas S. Galvao,Pulickel M. Ajayan +13 more
TL;DR: 3D scaffolds of graphene, possessing ultra-low density, macroporous microstructure, and high yield strength and stiffness can be developed by a novel plasma welding process, making graphene an ideal material for use as body implants.
Journal ArticleDOI
The structural and dynamical aspects of boron nitride nanotubes under high velocity impacts
Leonardo D. Machado,Leonardo D. Machado,Sehmus Ozden,Chandra Sekhar Tiwary,Pedro A. S. Autreto,Robert Vajtai,Enrique V. Barrera,Douglas S. Galvao,Pulickel M. Ajayan +8 more
TL;DR: Because BNNTs are more brittle than CNTs this results in a larger number of fractured tubes but with fewer formed nanoribbons, and fully atomistic reactive molecular dynamics simulations were carried out to gain insights into the BNNT fracture patterns and deformation mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bacteria as Bio-Template for 3D Carbon Nanotube Architectures
Sehmus Ozden,Isaac Macwan,Peter Samora Owuor,Suppanat Kosolwattana,Pedro A. S. Autreto,Sushila Silwal,Robert Vajtai,Chandra Sekhar Tiwary,Aditya D. Mohite,Prabir Patra,Pulickel M. Ajayan +10 more
TL;DR: The 3D CNTs-AMB1 nanocomposite scaffold showed good mechanical stability and large surface area because of the excellent pore interconnection and high porosity and is demonstrated as a potential substrate for electrodes in supercapacitor applications.
