Particulate Matter and Nanoparticles Toxicology
Ernesto Alfaro-Moreno,Tim S. Nawrot,Tim S. Nawrot,Abderrahim Nemmar,Irma Rosas,Per E. Schwarze +5 more
TL;DR: It is evident that inhaled particles may have local and systemic effects, and that the size, the composition, and the physicochemical characteristics of these airborne particles play a central role in their toxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthetic hydrosilicate nanotubes induce low pro-inflammatory and cytotoxic responses compared to natural chrysotile in lung cell cultures
Tonje Skuland,T. P. Maslennikova,Marit Låg,El´mira Gatina,Maria Serebryakova,Andrey S. Trulioff,Igor Kudryavtsev,Natalia Klebnikova,Irina Yu. Kruchinina,Per E. Schwarze,Magne Refsnes +10 more
TL;DR: Pro‐inflammatory responses were associated with the length of synthetic hydrosilicate NTs in THP‐1 macrophages, but not in HBEC3‐KT cells, and Notably, the shortest NTs showed no or little pro‐inflammatory activity or cytotoxicity in both cell models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low levels of antibodies for the oral bacterium Tannerella forsythia predict cardiovascular disease mortality in men with myocardial infarction: A prospective cohort study.
TL;DR: An increased HR is found by low levels of antibodies to the bacterium T. forsythia predicting CVD mortality in a 12 ½ years follow-up in persons who had experienced an MI but not among non-MI men.
Journal ArticleDOI
Air pollution and lung cancer in Europe – Authors' reply
Ole Raaschou-Nielsen,Paolo Vineis,Bert Brunekreef,Mark J. Nieuwenhuijsen,Barbara Hoffmann,Francesco Forastiere,Anna Oudin,Gerard Hoek,Klea Katsouyanni,Per E. Schwarze,Rob Beelen +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors pointed out that the avoidance of G1 arrest is not the only mechanism contributing to positive outcomes; early exposure of patients with heterogeneous tumours to chemotherapy is the other major reason for better survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Agreement between self‐reported and registry‐based use of sleep medications and tranquilizers
Jorunn Evandt,Svetlana Skurtveit,Svetlana Skurtveit,Bente Oftedal,Norun Hjertager Krog,Per Nafstad,Per Nafstad,Eva Skovlund,Eva Skovlund,Per E. Schwarze,Gunn Marit Aasvang +10 more
TL;DR: The purpose of the present study was to assess the agreement between self‐reported use of sleep medications and tranquilizers and dispensed hypnotics and anxiolytics.
