aMeta: an accurate and memory-efficient ancient Metagenomic profiling workflow

TL;DR: AMeta is proposed, an accurate ancient Metagenomic profiling workflow designed primarily to minimize the amount of false discoveries and computer memory requirements, and its superior sensitivity and specificity in both microbial detection and authentication, as well as substantially lower usage of computer memory.

Ecological genomics in the Northern krill uncovers loci for local adaptation across ocean basins

TL;DR: In this paper , the 19 Gb Northern krill genome was assembled and compared genome-scale variation among 74 specimens from the colder Atlantic Ocean and warmer Mediterranean Sea, revealing extreme divergence across hundreds of genes, governing ecophysiological functions like photoreception, circadian regulation, reproduction and thermal tolerance.
Journal ArticleDOI

The evolutionary maintenance of ancient recombining sex chromosomes in the ostrich

TL;DR: In this article , the evolutionary maintenance of sex chromosomes in the ostrich (Struthio camelus) was studied, where the W remains 65% the size of the Z chromosome, despite being more than 100 million years old.
