Effect of interleukin-1β inhibition with canakinumab on incident lung cancer in patients with atherosclerosis: exploratory results from a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

Paul M. Ridker, +113 more
- 21 Oct 2017 -
TL;DR: The hypothesis-generating data suggest the possibility that anti-inflammatory therapy with canakinumab targeting the interleukin-1β innate immunity pathway could significantly reduce incident lung cancer and lung cancer mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prasugrel versus clopidogrel for acute coronary syndromes without revascularization

Matthew T. Roe, +1038 more
TL;DR: Among patients with unstable angina or myocardial infarction without ST-segment elevation, prasugrel did not significantly reduce the frequency of the primary end point, as compared with clopidogrel, and similar risks of bleeding were observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Abstract 13800: Five-Year All-Cause Mortality in the Contemporary Coronary Artery Disease Patients Who Would Be Eligible for ISCHEMIA Trial

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors compared the 5-year all-cause mortality in the ISCHEMIA trial like patients (pts) with results in ISCH and found that myocardial revascularization patients with more complex forms of CAD were strikingly sicker (lower LVEF, higher proportion of 3VD and proximal LAD, higher NYHA as well as more comorbidities).
Journal ArticleDOI

Treatment-resistant hypertension

TL;DR: Previous knowledge about the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of resistant hypertension, as well as optimal diagnostic methods to differentiate true from pseudo-resistant hypertension are summarized.
