No Evidence of Long-Term Immunosuppression after High-Titer Edmonstron-Zagreb Measles Vaccination in Senegal
Badara Samb,Hilton Whittle,Peter Aaby,Awa Marie Coll Seck,John V. Bennett,Lauri E. Markowitz,Pa Tamba N'Gom,Hervé Zeller,Kim F. Michaelsen,François Simondon +9 more
TL;DR: Little is known about the best predictors of immunocompetence among children in developing countries, so several different tests with the objectives of finding immunologic differences between the vaccine groups and identifying possible defects that could be corrected through specific interventions (e.g., vitamin A supplementation or nutritional rehabilitation).
Journal ArticleDOI
No effect of an additional early dose of measles vaccine on hospitalization or mortality in children: A randomized controlled trial.
Anja Schoeps,Eric Nebie,Ane Bærent Fisker,Ali Sié,Alphonse Zakane,Olaf Müller,Peter Aaby,Heiko Becher +7 more
TL;DR: Results suggest a possible beneficial effect of early MV in children that had not been exposed to an OPV campaign after enrolment, but could have been obscured by NSEs of the frequent OPV campaigns.
Journal ArticleDOI
Five year follow-up of morbidity and mortality among recipients of high-titre measles vaccines in Senegal
Peter Aaby,Badara Samb,François Simondon,Kim Knudsen,Awa Marie Coll Seck,John V. Bennett,Lauri E. Markowitz,Hilton Whittle +7 more
TL;DR: The difference in mortality observed in several studies during the first few years after vaccination may be explained by non-specific beneficial effects of the standard measles vaccine rather than a harmful effect of the high-titre vaccines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beneficial Nonspecific Effects of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV): Implications for the Cessation of OPV?
Journal ArticleDOI
The immunological effects of oral polio vaccine provided with BCG vaccine at birth: a randomised trial.
Kristoffer Jarlov Jensen,Hanne Sophie Karkov,Najaaraq Lund,Andreas Andersen,Helle Brander Eriksen,Amarildo Barbosa,Bjørn Kantsø,Peter Aaby,Christine Stabell Benn +8 more
TL;DR: The results corroborate that OPV attenuates the immune response to co-administered BCG at birth and test immune responses to other antigens.
