Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of neonatal vitamin A supplementation on growth in the first year of life among low-birth-weight infants in Guinea-Bissau: two by two factorial randomised controlled trial
Sofie Biering-Sørensen,Sofie Biering-Sørensen,Ane Bærent Fisker,Ane Bærent Fisker,Henrik Ravn,Luis Camala,Ivan Monteiro,Peter Aaby,Christine Stabell Benn +8 more
TL;DR: The results support other trials indicating that neonatal VAS does not have consistent effects on childhood growth and if anything the effects seem to be temporary and show that the effect may differ by vaccination status, being beneficial when given with BCG at birth and when DTP is delayed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measles Vaccination Supports Millennium Development Goal 4: Increasing Coverage and Increasing Child Survival in Northern Ghana, 1996–2012
Paul Welaga,Abraham Hodgson,Cornelius Debpuur,Peter Aaby,Fred Binka,Daniel Azongo,Abraham Oduro +6 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that measles vaccination, administered in the recommended sequence, is associated with improved child survival and may have contributed importantly to the mortality decline toward the achievement of Millennium Development Goal 4.
Journal ArticleDOI
Out-of-Sequence Vaccinations With Measles Vaccine and Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis Vaccine: A Reanalysis of Demographic Surveillance Data From Rural Bangladesh
Clara Clipet-Jensen,Andreas Andersen,Aksel Karl Georg Jensen,Aksel Karl Georg Jensen,Peter Aaby,Peter Aaby,K. Zaman +6 more
TL;DR: The negative effects of non-live DTP with or after live MV are not explained merely by selection bias and support a live-vaccine-last policy where DTP should not be given with or before measles vaccine (MV).
Journal ArticleDOI
HTLV prevalence is no longer following the decreasing HIV prevalence – 20 years of retroviral surveillance in Guinea-Bissau, West Africa
Mads Mose Jensen,Mads Mose Jensen,Jens Steen Olesen,Jens Steen Olesen,Bertram Kjerulff,Stine Byberg,Stine Byberg,Zacarias da Silva,Amabelia Rodrigues,Sanne Jespersen,Sanne Jespersen,Christian Wejse,Peter Aaby,Peter Aaby,Christian Erikstrup,Bo Langhoff Hønge,Bo Langhoff Hønge +16 more
TL;DR: The HTLV prevalence in Bissau showed a non-significant increase in prevalence among the 15-24 year-olds since 2006, supporting ongoing transmission and evidence supporting continuous vertical and horizontal routes of transmissions.
