Extended High Circular Polarization in the Orion Massive Star Forming Region: Implications for the Origin of Homochirality in the Solar System
T. Fukue,Motohide Tamura,Ryo Kandori,Nobuhiko Kusakabe,J. H. Hough,Jeremy Bailey,Douglas C. B. Whittet,Philip W. Lucas,Yasushi Nakajima,Jun Hashimoto +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a wide-field and deep near-infrared (Ks band: 2.14 micro m) image of the Orion nebula is presented, showing that a high circular polarization region is spatially extended around the massive star-forming region, the BN/KL nebula.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ongoing astrometric microlensing events from VVV and Gaia
TL;DR: In this article, the Vista Variables were used to identify two microlensing events with maxima in 2019 that require urgent follow-up with an estimated precision of $sim9$ and $sim13$ per cent respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extinction ratios in the inner Galaxy as revealed by the VVV survey
Javier Alonso-García,Javier Alonso-García,Dante Minniti,Márcio Catelan,Márcio Catelan,Rodrigo Contreras Ramos,Rodrigo Contreras Ramos,Oscar A. Gonzalez,Maren Hempel,Philip W. Lucas,Roberto K. Saito,Elena Valenti,Manuela Zoccali,Manuela Zoccali +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors apply the red clump method to infer the selective-to-total extinction ratios in the near-infrared filters of the VVV survey.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of a mid-infrared protostellar outburst of exceptional amplitude
Philip W. Lucas,J. Elias,S. Points,Zhen Guo,Leigh C. Smith,B. Stecklum,Eduard I. Vorobyov,Eduard I. Vorobyov,Eduard I. Vorobyov,C. Morris,Jura Borissova,Jura Borissova,R. Kurtev,R. Kurtev,C. Contreras Peña,N. Medina,N. Medina,Dante Minniti,Valentin D. Ivanov,Roberto K. Saito +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the discovery of a mid-infrared outburst in a Young Stellar Object (YSO) with an amplitude close to 8 mag at 4.6 εm was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variable stars in the VVV globular clusters. II. NGC 6441, NGC 6569, NGC 6626 (M 28), NGC 6656 (M 22), 2MASS-GC 02, and Terzan 10
