Journal ArticleDOI
Drugs and Brugada syndrome patients: review of the literature, recommendations and an up-to-date website (www.brugadadrugs.org)
Pieter G. Postema,Christian Wolpert,Ahmad S. Amin,Vincent Probst,Martin Borggrefe,Dan M. Roden,Silvia G. Priori,Hanno L. Tan,Masayasu Hiraoka,Josep Brugada,Arthur A.M. Wilde +10 more
TL;DR: The purpose of this study was to make recommendations based on the literature and on expert opinion regarding drug safety, and to ensure worldwide online and up-to-date availability of this information to all physicians who treat Brugada syndrome patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
The pathophysiological mechanism underlying Brugada syndrome Depolarization versus repolarization
Arthur A.M. Wilde,Pieter G. Postema,José M. Di Diego,Sami Viskin,Hiroshi Morita,Jeffrey M. Fish,Charles Antzelevitch +6 more
TL;DR: This Point/Counterpoint presents a scholarly debate of the mechanisms underlying the electrocardiographic and arrhythmic manifestations of Brugada syndrome, exploring in detail the available evidence in support of the repolarization vs. depolarization hypothesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accurate electrocardiographic assessment of the QT interval: Teach the tangent
TL;DR: In this proof-of-principle study, inexperienced ECG readers were able to rather accurately and reproducibly diagnose prolonged and normal QT intervals on four ECGs, as opposed to 877 cardiologists and noncardiologists.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Response of the QT Interval to the Brief Tachycardia Provoked by Standing: A Bedside Test for Diagnosing Long QT Syndrome
Sami Viskin,Pieter G. Postema,Zahurul A. Bhuiyan,Raphael Rosso,Jonathan M. Kalman,Jitendra K. Vohra,Milton E Guevara-Valdivia,Manlio F. Márquez,Evgeni Kogan,Bernard Belhassen,Michael Glikson,Boris Strasberg,Charles Antzelevitch,Arthur A.M. Wilde +13 more
TL;DR: Evaluated the response of the QT interval to the brisk tachycardia induced by standing provides important information that aids in the diagnosis of LQTS and receiver-operating characteristic curves showed that the test adds diagnostic value.
Journal ArticleDOI
Haplotype-Sharing Analysis Implicates Chromosome 7q36 Harboring DPP6 in Familial Idiopathic Ventricular Fibrillation
Marielle Alders,Tamara T. Koopmann,Imke Christiaans,Pieter G. Postema,Leander Beekman,Michael W.T. Tanck,Katja Zeppenfeld,Peter Loh,Karel T. Koch,Sophie Demolombe,Sophie Demolombe,Sophie Demolombe,Marcel M.A.M. Mannens,Connie R. Bezzina,Arthur A.M. Wilde +14 more
TL;DR: DPP6 is proposed as a gene for IVF and increased DPP6 expression as the likely pathogenetic mechanism and demonstrated a 20-fold increase in DPP 6 mRNA levels in the myocardium of carriers as compared to controls.
