Preliminary measurement results from an adaptive antenna array testbed for GSM/UMTS

TL;DR: The results show that in most cases the received signal consists of a single narrowly scattered component impinging from the direction towards the mobile, and an averaging window size of one SACCH frame is a wise choice for DoA estimation in a non-FH network.

Method of performing handover by using different handover parameters for different traffic and user classes in a communication network

TL;DR: In this paper, a handover procedure is performed under control of a control entity (RNC) of the communication network, defined by a handoff signaling scenario (HO, HHO, SHO, SSTD) and at least one set of handover parameters per signaling scenario, the handover parameter defines a respective handover trigger condition, and a communication with a subscriber terminal belongs to a specific one of a plurality of traffic classes, and each user class is defined per traffic class.

On the Potential of Full Duplex Communication in 5G Small Cell Networks

TL;DR: Evaluating the performance of full duplex communication in a dense small cell scenario as targeted by future 5th Generation (5G) radio access technology under the ideal assumptions of a full buffer, always active traffic model and perfect self interference cancellation finds about 30-40% mean throughput gain over half duplex transmissions for indoor scenarios.

A Flexible Frame Structure for 5G Wide Area

TL;DR: The proposed solution encompasses flexible multiplexing of users on a shared channel with dynamic adjustment of the transmission time interval (TTI) in coherence with the service requirements per link, allowing optimization of the fundamental trade-offs between spectral efficiency, latency, and reliability for each link.

Carrier load balancing methods with bursty traffic for LTE-Advanced systems

TL;DR: This paper derives the analytical model for a bursty birth-death traffic model with fixed payload size for OFDMA with different frequency domain packet schedulers for a multi-carrier system, and compute the performance for different system setups.
