Journal ArticleDOI
Immunogenicity and HPV infection after one, two, and three doses of quadrivalent HPV vaccine in girls in India: a multicentre prospective cohort study
Rengaswamy Sankaranarayanan,Priya R. Prabhu,Michael Pawlita,Tarik Gheit,Neerja Bhatla,Richard Muwonge,Bhagwan M. Nene,Pulikottil Okuru Esmy,Smita Joshi,Usha Rani Reddy Poli,Parimal Jivarajani,Yogesh Verma,Eric Zomawia,Maqsood Siddiqi,Surendra S Shastri,Kasturi Jayant,Sylla G. TL;DR: Despite the limitations imposed by the suspension of the HPV vaccination, the findings lend support to the WHO recommendation of two doses, at least 6 months apart, for routine vaccination of young girls.
Journal ArticleDOI
Can a single dose of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine prevent cervical cancer? Early findings from an Indian study.
Rengaswamy Sankaranarayanan,Smita Joshi,Richard Muwonge,Pulikottil O. Esmy,Partha Basu,Priya R. Prabhu,Neerja Bhatla,Bhagwan M. Nene,Janmesh Shaw,Usha Rani Reddy Poli,Yogesh Verma,Eric Zomawia,Sharmila Pimple,Massimo Tommasino,Michael Pawlita,Tarik Gheit,Tim Waterboer,Peter Sehr,Madhavan Radhakrishna Pillai +18 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that a single dose of quadrivalent HPV vaccine is immunogenic and provides lasting protection against HPV 16 and 18 infections similar to the three- and two-dose vaccine schedules, although the study suffer from some limitations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vaccine efficacy against persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) 16/18 infection at 10 years after one, two, and three doses of quadrivalent HPV vaccine in girls in India: a multicentre, prospective, cohort study.
Partha Basu,Sylla G. Malvi,Smita Joshi,Neerja Bhatla,Richard Muwonge,Eric Lucas,Yogesh Verma,Pulikkottil Okkuru Esmy,Usha Rani Reddy Poli,Anand Shah,Eric Zomawia,Sharmila Pimple,Kasturi Jayant,Sanjay Hingmire,Aruna Chiwate,Uma Divate,Shachi Vashist,Gauravi A Mishra,Radhika Jadhav,Maqsood Siddiqi,Subha Sankaran,Priya R. Radhakrishna Pillai,Rengaswamy Sankaranarayanan +30 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the vaccine efficacy of single dose to that of three and two doses in protecting against persistent HPV 16 and 18 infection at 10 years post vaccination, and concluded that a single dose of vaccine provides similar protection against persistent infection from HPV 16, the genotypes responsible for nearly 70% of cervical cancers, to that provided by two or three doses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nicotine-induced survival signaling in lung cancer cells is dependent on their p53 status while its down-regulation by curcumin is independent.
Vineshkumar Thidil Puliyappadamba,Vino T. Cheriyan,Arun Kumar T. Thulasidasan,Smitha V. Bava,Balachandran S Vinod,Priya R. Prabhu,Ranji Varghese,Arathy Bevin,Shalini Venugopal,Ruby John Anto +9 more
TL;DR: The present study reveals a detrimental role of nicotine especially in lung cancer patients with impaired p53 status and identifies curcumin as a potential chemopreventive.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of mucosal high-risk human papillomavirus types in head and neck cancers in central India.
Tarik Gheit,Devasena Anantharaman,Devasena Anantharaman,Dana Holzinger,Laia Alemany,Sara Tous,Eric Lucas,Priya R. Prabhu,Michael Pawlita,Ruediger Ridder,Ruediger Ridder,Susanne Rehm,Johannes Bogers,Fausto Maffini,Susanna Chiocca,Belen Lloveras,Rekha V. Kumar,Thara Somanathan,Silvia de Sanjosé,Xavier Castellsagué,Marc Arbyn,Paul Brennan,Rengaswamy Sankaranarayanan,Madhavan Radhakrishna Pillai,Nitin Gangane,Massimo Tommasino +25 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that the proportion and types of mucosal HR‐HPV associated with HNC in this central Indian region differ from those in other (developed) parts of the world.
