Journal ArticleDOI

Multi-scale segregations and edaphic determinants of marsh plant communities in a western Pacific estuary

TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between plant communities and edaphic factors in the Yangtze estuary at three spatial scales was investigated, including landscape, zonation and patch scales.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phenotypic plasticity of light use favors a plant invader in nitrogen-enriched ecosystems.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors used a two-year field nitrogen enrichment experiment on one of the global invasive plants, Spartina alterniflora, and found that the plasticity of light use reduced intraspecific competition and increased biomass production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Linking stoichiometric homeostasis of microorganisms with soil phosphorus dynamics in wetlands subjected to microcosm warming.

TL;DR: Experimental warming impaired the ability of stoichiometric homeostasis (H) to regulate biogeochemical processes, enhancing the ecological role of wetland soil as an ecological source for both P and C and can be a useful ecological tool for assessing potential P flux in ecosystems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Patterns of syntrophic interactions in methanogenic conversion of propionate

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of methanogenic enrichments with propionate as the sole substrate were developed to identify microbial populations specifically involved in syntrophic polypropionate conversion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Overlooked pathways of endogenous simultaneous nitrification and denitrification in anaerobic/aerobic/anoxic sequencing batch reactors with organic supplementation.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors proposed a potential SND pathway based on heterotrophic nitrification and denitrification driven by intracellular carbon and verified it with batch tests, showing that the high HNB contribution (43.7%) and low COD variation (< 10 mg L−1) in the SND (76.4%) of CN12, supported the dominance of ESND in the enhanced SND.
