Journal ArticleDOI
Breakdown of vibrational structure in {sup 98}Ru
R. B. Cakirli,R. B. Cakirli,R. F. Casten,R. F. Casten,E. A. McCutchan,H. Ai,H. Amro,Mario Babilon,Mario Babilon,C. W. Beausang,Andreas Martin Heinz,Richard Hughes,Richard Hughes,D. A. Meyer,C. Plettner,J. J. Ressler,N. V. Zamfir +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the YRAST Ball detectors were used to study the nucleus of the Ru isotope and reveal a structure that resembles a near harmonic vibrator spectrum up through the two-phonon triplet but show an almost complete breakdown of vibrator structure thereafter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deviations from axial symmetry in 181 Os
Zs. Podolyák,S. Al-Garni,R. F. Casten,J. R. Cooper,D. M. Cullen,A. Dewald,R. Krücken,H. Newman,H. Newman,J.N. Orce,C. J. Pearson,C. A. Ur,R. Venturelli,SM Vincent,C. Wheldon,P. M. Walker,Furong Xu,A. D. Yamamoto,N. V. Zamfir,N. V. Zamfir +19 more
TL;DR: The experimentally determined quadrupole moment, assuming axial symmetry, is approximately 20% larger for the 7/2/1/2 band compared with the 1/2 /2/3 band as discussed by the authors, which can be understood as an effect of triaxiality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure of low-lying states in 128 Ba from γ − γ angular correlations and polarization measurements
A. Wolf,A. Wolf,N. V. Zamfir,N. V. Zamfir,Mark A. Caprio,Z. Berant,Z. Berant,D. S. Brenner,Norbert Pietralla,R. L. Gill,R. F. Casten,C. W. Beausang,R. Kruecken,K. E. Zyromski,C. J. Barton,J. R. Cooper,A. A. Hecht,H. Newmann,J. R. Novak,Joakim Cederkäll,Joakim Cederkäll +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the decay properties of several low-lying states were investigated and the results were in good agreement with predictions of the O(6) limit of the interacting boson approximation.
Journal ArticleDOI
First experimental test of X(5) critical-point symmetry in the A ∼ 130 mass region: Low-spin states and the collective structure of 130 Ce
A. F. Mertz,E. A. McCutchan,R. F. Casten,R. J. Casperson,Andreas Martin Heinz,B. Huber,R. Lüttke,R. Lüttke,J. Qian,B. Shoraka,B. Shoraka,J. R. Terry,V. Werner,Elizabeth Williams,R. Winkler +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a substantially revised level scheme was proposed for the low-spin states in the decay of the mass region of the Yale moving tape collector, and the results were compared with the predictions of the X(5) critical point model and the X (5)-${\ensuremath{\beta}}^{4}4} model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lifetime measurements of yrast states in 162 Yb and 166 Hf
E. A. McCutchan,N. V. Zamfir,R. F. Casten,H. Ai,H. Amro,Mario Babilon,Mario Babilon,D. S. Brenner,G. Gürdal,G. Gürdal,Andreas Martin Heinz,Richard Hughes,Richard Hughes,D. A. Meyer,C. Plettner,J. Qian,J. J. Ressler,N. J. Thomas,N. J. Thomas,V. Werner,Elizabeth Williams,R. Winkler +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, lifetime measurements of yrast levels in 162Yb and 166Hf were performed using the recoil distance Doppler-shift method in coincidence mode, and the resulting B(E2) values were compared with the X(5) critical point model predictions and interacting boson approximation (IBA) model calculations.
