TL;DR: In this paper, a point source was detected within the gap of the transition disk at about 195 mas (about 22 au) projected separation, and the detection was confirmed at five different epochs, in three filter bands and using different instruments.
Journal ArticleDOI
The building blocks of planets within the ‘terrestrial’ region of protoplanetary disks
R. van Boekel,R. van Boekel,Michiel Min,C. Leinert,L. B. F. M. Waters,L. B. F. M. Waters,Andrea Richichi,Olivier Chesneau,Carsten Dominik,Walter Jaffe,Anne Dutrey,Uwe Graser,Th. Henning,J. de Jong,Rainer Köhler,A. de Koter,Bruno Lopez,Fabien Malbet,Sebastien Morel,Francesco Paresce,Guy Perrin,Thomas Preibisch,Frank Przygodda,Markus Schöller,Markus Wittkowski +24 more
TL;DR: Sp spatially resolved detections and compositional analyses of dust building blocks in the innermost two astronomical units of three proto-planetary disks imply that silicates crystallize before any terrestrial planets are formed, consistent with the composition of meteorites in the Solar System.
Journal ArticleDOI
A 10 μm spectroscopic survey of Herbig Ae star disks: Grain growth and crystallization
R. van Boekel,R. van Boekel,Michiel Min,L. B. F. M. Waters,L. B. F. M. Waters,A. de Koter,Carsten Dominik,M. E. van den Ancker,Jeroen Bouwman +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present spectroscopic observations of a large sample of Herbig Ae stars in the 10 µm spectral region and perform compositional fits of the spectra based on properties of homogeneous as well as inhomogeneous spherical particles.

R. van Boekel,Michiel Min,L.B.F.M. Waters,A. de Koter,Carsten Dominik,M.E. van den Ancker,Jordy Bouwman +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present spectroscopic observations of a large sample of Herbig Ae stars in the 10 micrometer spectral region, and perform compositional fits of the spectra based on properties of homogeneous as well as inhomogeneous spherical particles.

Stecklum,M.E. van den Ancker,O. von der Lühe,Gerd Weigelt +37 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first long baseline mid-infrared interferometric observations of the circumstellar disks surrounding Herbig Ae/Be stars were obtained using the MIDI at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) Very Large Telescope Interferometer VLTI on Cerro Paranal.
