Damage tolerant design of additively manufactured metallic components subjected to cyclic loading: State of the art and challenges.
Uwe Zerbst,Giovanni Bruno,Jean-Yves Buffiere,Thomas Wegener,Thomas Niendorf,Tao Wu,Xiang Zhang,Nikolai Kashaev,Giovanni Meneghetti,Nik Hrabe,Mauro Madia,Tiago Werner,Kai Hilgenberg,Martina Koukolikova,Radek Procházka,Jan Džugan,Benjamin Möller,Stefano Beretta,Alexander Evans,Rainer Wagener,Kai Schnabel +20 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the homogenization of these fields represents the current challenge for the engineer and the materials scientist.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interpretation of Overload Effects Under Spectrum Loading of Welded High-Strength Steel Joints
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of overloads on the fatigue life of welded structures under spectrum loading was investigated and a significant increase of fatigue life was observed in low-strength joints under pulsating bending.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low cycle fatigue life assessment of welded high-strength structural steels based on nominal and local design concepts
TL;DR: In this paper, an extended S-N design curve based on fatigue class FAT 160 (k ǫ = 5) gives conservative results for high quality butt welds below the ultimate tensile strength.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fatigue Life Design of Components under Variable Amplitude Loading with Respect to Cyclic Material Behaviour
TL;DR: In this article, a material-based approach was proposed to improve the transferability of material fatigue properties to arbitrary geometries while reducing the numerical effort for fatigue life estimation, considering the elastic-plastic material behaviour through a combination of the local and global approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fatigue life assessment for large components based on rainflow counted local strains using the damage domain
TL;DR: In this paper, a calculation model was developed to estimate the degree of utilisation of structural components based on rainflow counted local strains measured on machines during industrial use, but not in the classical cycle by cycle definition, since this information is generally not available from the measurements.
